Austin Families Assn shows Horace Austin as a descendant of "Rhode Island Robert Austin". He is the son of Rufus Austin and Eleanor Fitoch. He served in the military in a number of wars, and is said to have participated in helping slaves to flee to the North by way of the "Underground Railroad". "RI Robert Austin " can be found on the Austin Families Assn of America Website www.afaoa.org . You can see it in Family Group Sheet style by going to Austin Research - Northern databases - RI Robert. Or to see it "book" style go to the Text Document Search - Descendancy Books. When searching on a name in Text, there is one minor annoyance. There is a generation number between the given name and the surname when the person appears in the book as the "head" of his family (for example John1 Austin). Use the asterisk as a wild character to get around this feature (to search for John Austin, enter "John* Austin" -- the quotation marks are required to just return documents with John Austin and not all of the documents containing Austin or John).
