Per great suggestions Theresa Allen was born in 1800 in either Jefferson County or Albany County, NY, according to census records. She married Jacob Austin in 1820. Their first child was born in Oneida County in 1821. Jacob and Theresa lived in Herkimer County during the 1825 census through 1845 census period. (In 1844 Jacob and Theresa's grandchild [Melissa Helmer] was born in Denmark, Lewis County.) The 1850 census finds them in Jefferson county, town of Pamelia. Living with them are their children and Theresa's mother, Keziah Allen. In 1855, 1860 & 1865 Theresa and Jacob & family were in Antwerp, Jefferson County. Jacob died in 1866 in Antwerp, Jefferson County and is buried there. Theresa moved to Missouri with some of her children and died there in 1884. I submitted a previous email, questioning whether Theresa or Keziah could be Indian. I received many responses, every last one of them confirming my belief that if either of them were Indian, they would most likely be Mohawk. I had asked the question when I saw that someone had asked about a Sarah Allen that was thought to be Blackfoot from central NY. If anyone connects, or if you have any suggestions for further research, please let me know. Thank you for replying to my request for assistance. Kathy Williams
