I am trying to reach Bonnie or Anna regarding a posting on the Austin list archives regarding Erastus Austin. I believe he was a great-grandfather of my husband through his daughter Harriet, but I have not been able to prove it yet. I have a Harriet who married James Pettit around 1850. The Pettit children were born in Wisconsin. James was a shoemaker enumerated next to Erastus Austin in 1860. In 1870, Erastus and Anna Austin were enumerated in the household with Harriet Pettit, who was widowed. Neither Austin is enumerated with Harriet in 1880, although there is a Thomas Austin enumerated who is also enumerated in Waterloo who might be Harriet's brother.
