    1. [AUSTIN] Nathaniel Austin's move to SC

    3. Pg. 2 of "Nathaniel Austin Sr. of Greenville County, South Carolina" (on AFAOA website) claims that Nathaniel Austin received a Royal Grant of 500 acres of land on Little River (later named Gilder's Creek), a branch of the Saluda in 1769. I have not found evidence of this. Howver, there *was* a grant of 100 acres in 1766 on Little Creek of Saluda River. The only grant of 500 acres I found was in 1797, "lying on both sides of the dividing line of Laurens and Greenville Counties on the North Fork of Durbins Creek." So, two questions - what is the source of the 1769 grant and was Gilder's Creek really originally called Little River? I appreciate any help. Vickie Elam White
