I've "rescued" a group of old photographs belonging to the FOSTER and AUSTIN Family of New York. The photographs included in this group are as follows: 1 - Florence FOSTER, taken at the Arcade Studio in Buffalo, New York, dated 1879, girl in teens 2 - Samuel P. FOSTER, taken at the A. W. Simon Studio in Akron, New York, dated 1896, man in his 50's 3 - Adeline AUSTIN FOSTER, taken at the A. W. Simon Studio in Akron, New York, dated 1896, woman in her 50's 4 - Adeline AUSTIN FOSTER, taken at the Howell Studio in Jackson, Michigan, dated 1896, woman in her 60's or 70's (these are the same woman, though the photographs could not have been taken at the same time, I'm thinking that #3 was actually taken in the 1880's with the photograph of Samuel P. FOSTER also appearing to have been taken in the 1880's rather than 1896) Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding this family: Florence FOSTER was b. Dec 1861 in NY to parents Samuel P. FOSTER (b. Oct 1830 in Bennington, NY) and Adeline or Adaline E. AUSTIN (b. Aug 1836 in Bennington Center, NY). This couple had three children including, Arlettie; Florence; and Minnie FOSTER all born in NY between 1859 and 1863. Adaline or Adeline E. AUSTIN was the daughter of John Pitt AUSTIN (b. 15 Sept 1801) and Nancy PIERCE (b. 9 Feb 1806 in Livonia, NY). Florence married Mr. JOHNSON. Census records provide the following information: 1870 census of Marilla, NY: T. Samuel FOSTER, age 40, a Farmer, born NY Adaline FOSTER, age 32, Keeps House, born NY Arlettie FOSTER, age 11, at School, born NY Florance FOSTER, age 9, at School, born NY Minnie FOSTER, age 7, at School, born NY And living directly next door James & Helen AUSTIN and family 1880 census of Bennington, NY: Samuel P. FOSTER, age 49, born NY, a Farmer, parents born VT Adaline E. FOSTER, wife, age 42, born NY, Keeping House, parents born RI/NY Florence FOSTER, dau, age 18, born NY, Keeping House 1900 census of Bennington, NY: Samuel FOSTER, age 69, born Oct 1830, married 42 years, born NY, parents born NH/VT, a Farmer Adeline FOSTER, wife, age 63, born Aug 1836, married 4 years, 3 children/2 living, born NY, parents born NY Florance JOHNSON, granddau, age 12, born Dec 1887, born NY, parents born NY Horatio AUSTIN, bro-in-law, age 65, born Oct 1834, born NY, parents born NY Loren AUSTIN, bro-in-law, age 68, born Nov 1831, born NY, parents born NY And living directly next door - Sarah AUSTIN and son Rhodin AUSTIN and family 1910 census of Bennington, NY: Adeline FOSTER, age 72, a widow, 3 children/2 living, born NY, parents born NY, a Farmer Loren AUSTIN, brother, age 79, born NY, parents born NY, Own Income Horatio AUSTIN, brother, age 76, born NY, parents born NY, Own Income And living directly next door Rordie AUSTIN and his Mother Sarah AUSTIN and family I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that this lovely group of family photographs can be returned to the rightful place, with family.
