That handwritten account listed 2 daughters: Rebecca and Susanna and a possible son,Ichabod born to Ichabod Austin and Elizabeth Billings. Also recorded were the marriages of both girls--to Rumery and Maddocks. I have had professional researchers trying to find those "OLD' records. Krissy, I'm taking a shot in the dark. I have one Austin name in my lineage, and have nothing before her. She's Mary Ann Austin, born in 1862 and died in 1924. She was married to John Newton Richardson, and they lived in Vassalboro, Kennebec County, Maine. I would be very interested if possibly she fit in with the line you show, but 2-3 generations after your generation 3. From: Helen Austin, Decatur, AL [email protected] Without looking up in my file, but just from memory (which is sometimes fallible), I have seen something about the Thomas M. J. AUSTIN who was a (grain?) inspector at the docks on the TN River at Huntsville, Madison Co, AL. I also saw a mention of his death in a publication that was Old Newspapers of AL (or a similar title) telling of his death while he was on a trip. I hope I am correct. I will have to look this up. I need to keep in touch with you because there are some similarities in your AUSTIN and mine. Do, you know from the census whether your Thomas had parents who were born in SC ? My John C. AUSTIN b 1831 came to North AL, Morgan Co. before 1845, but I have not found him on the 1850 census. Just the marriage of his sister, Nancy AUSTIN in Morgan Co. John's parents were both born in SC but I have never been able to identify them. His first son was named Thomas J. L. AUSTIN b 1859 in Morgan Co, AL. John's 1st wife was Elizabeth EDWARDS, his second was her sister, Mary Easter EDWARDS, his third was Margaret HENDERSON SIMMONS. His other children were named Francis Marion 1857, died as infant, Mary Easter 1861,Isaac Samuel 1867, John Harvey 1876, LUTHER Demarcus 1879, Eunice Lee Josephine 1892, George Reason 1895, Arthur Ambers 1897. Did your ASTON family come through N. AL (Morgan, Madison, Lawrence, Winston Co.) on their way to Marion Co, AL ? I am wondering if there could be any connection to my John C. AUSTIN who was on the 1860, 1870 Morgan Co Census, and the 1880 Winston Co Census and the 1900 Lawrence Co, Census of AL. His parents were b SC. There were some different spellings of the name in these counties: ASTON, AUSTON, AUSTIN, ASTIN, OSTEN. There was a James AUSTIN/AUSTON b SC who was the brother of the SC Rev War Soldier Alexander AUSTIN/AUSTON who lived and died in Hillsboro, Lawrence Co, AL. If you want any more information on the above named persons, let me know. Helen Austin [email protected]
