Arisleahs mother died following childbirth and Arisleah was raised by her grandmother Austin but I am having trouble trying to find her in NY census reports. Arisleah was born in Syracuse in Feb. 1895. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can help me with my Austin family. Thank you - Joyce

    1. URL for Ellsworth, ME Newspaper Covers a lot of Maine!
    2. Just "dug" this site up! Jean's Maine Genealogy Page (http://www.mnopltd.com/jean/) This might pertain to you if you are searching for someone who either married or died (what a combination) in parts of Maine around Ellsworth between the dates of October 24, 1851 through December 29, 1865. Some spelling is a little off but found most dates to be fairly accurate. Great for a "Eureka" or two and for fun. Make sure you read the forward and explanations first! Krissy [email protected]

    3. Don, I have recieved NO responses. They were from Rockingham Co. VA. At some point they moved to Page Co. VA. In 1900 I found them living in Allenghany Co. VA while I was looking for my husband's family. The 1st John H. Austin Sr. I found in 1860 in Rockingham Co. with wife Haldah Garner and children: John H., James, Mary, Richard, and Betty. Then I found the 2nd John H. Austin in Allenghany Co. VA in 1900 with wife Mary Jane Pence and children: John H., George Harry, Arthur David, Richard Otis, Chelaus, Tollie Edward, and Teresa. Severeral are buried in Page Co. so I believe they didn't move to far away. From the Obit. for Mary Jane and John H. Sr. Tollie Edward lived in Portsmouth VA. in 1947. The only one I know for sure is Arthur David this is my grandfather he moved to Illinois he married Iola Fink in Alton IL. They moved to Harrisburg IL where Arthur died in a coal mine cave in in 1931. Any help would be greatly welcomed. Debbie >Debbie, > >Have you gotten any response to your post on Rootsweb? Would this family be the same? William Austin married Jane Quackenbush in 1835 Salem, NY. Is this family any relation to the AUSTIN family from Sheffield, CT? John had sons, Stephen, Richardson, Valentine, Joseph and possibly some daus.(names unknown). Resided in Brunswick Co., VA in 1744 and 1745 (tax rolls). Then in Lunenburg Co., VA and part became Halifax and Pittsylvania Co, VA later by 1767 (the latter) I believe. Thanks TXJEAN Richardson Austin may have married an Ann Heard (???) in VA...this line may have gone to GA. 2. To TX Jean and other AUSTINs John Calhoun Austin b 1831 TN, had relatives by marriage: LOTT, EDWARDS, SIMMONS, HENDERSON, FRANCIS, STEPHENS. etc. His family was originally from SC upcountry, (?Fairfield, Greenville, Laurens) Not found yet. But looking in 1800 and before. His parents were in TN in 1831 and perhaps in 1862. We are near to the TN line here so there were many crossing across the TN River and up to TN. I have searched the AUSTIN families all around. I have not proved out all the other No. AL AUSTINS yet, but have tons of notes. I need to get them all online and get some help. I just have not been working on AUSTINS lately. I had great breakthroughs on the HENDERSONS this week and expect to find them in Laurens Co, SC before 1800. Thanks for your interest. Helen

Ichabod may have been the one who drowned at Gloucester 17 Mar. 1734/35. Many years ago I received from researchers in Maine, a handwritten and hard to read account with a note at the beginning, saying that it was copied from "Old Records of Biddeford, Maine". That handwritten account listed 2 daughters: Rebecca and Susanna and a possible son,Ichabod born to Ichabod Austin and Elizabeth Billings. Also recorded were the marriages of both girls--to Rumery and Maddocks. I have had professional researchers trying to find those "OLD' records. They say it is likely legitimate, so I include Rebecca in those Maine Austins. Does anyone have an opinion or a clue as to the "OLD" records and where they could be found? Thank you Ruth Curtis
