It has been e-mailed: > > Austin, John born c. 1690-1790 England (?) who married Hannah Love. snip... John had sons, Stephen, Richardson, Valentine, Joseph and possibly some daus.(names unknown). Resided in Brunswick Co., VA in 1744 and 1745 (tax rolls). Then in Lunenburg Co., VA and part became Halifax and Pittsylvania Co, VA later by 1767 (the latter) I believe. This source listed my Allen AUSTIN of Jackson Co. AL as one of the illegitimate sons of Elizabeth (Betsy) AUSTIN of Anderson Co., TN. Does anyone have the John AUSTIN, son of John & Hannah connection? Does anyone have anything that will connect Allen AUSTIN of Jackson Co., AL to anyone? Jane Jane D. Wade [email protected]

    2. To Mary Jo and others >From Helen Austin [email protected] I have the John Austin , desc published by AFAOA My question is: You have the children of Joseph and Wealthy Prewitt AUSTIN as including a JOHN AUSTIN. Does anyone know of the descendants, dates and locations of residence for THIS JOHN and his family ? Also, do you know if Joseph, the son of Joseph and Wealthy ever lived in Fairfield Co, SC ? I am wanting to know the ancestry of the Joseph of Fairfield Co, SC because he married a dau of George LOTT in that county and appears on the 1810 and 1820 census , but does not appear on the 1830 census. I have wondered if this Joseph AUSTIN could have migrated to TN and have been the father of John C. AUSTIN b 1831 TN who married two g grandau of the same George LOTT, whose descendants were in Morgan Co, AL by 1830??

    1. New Jersey Austin Family
    2. Hello All, Going through the 1850 census and adding it to the dbase I find that I have no links to any of the families checked so far. The family in Burlington County would likely be descendants of the Austin family that was there very early but I have none. Anyone out there with ties to any of these families that appear on the 1850 census? Thanks for your help in the past and look forward to more mutual help. Thanks Don Challis

Susannah BURTON was the daughter of Thomas BURTON and Susannah HATCHER. Also looking for any descendants or ancestors, sibilings, ect of my Robert AUSTIN, father of John AUSTIN who married Hannah Honor Love. My John Austin was Born: 1687-1690 at: Surry Co., VA, and Died: BEF 5 FEB 1760 at: Cornwall Parish, Lunenburg Co., VA. His other spouse (Saponey Indian) was also possible Hannah, as no one has disproved that Hannah Love could've been Indian. Wife: Hannah Honor Love Died: BEF FEB 1784 at: Pittsylvania Co., VA Can anyone out there help me place Carolyns' AUSTIN line below? The names seem too much of a concidence to not be tied in with mine somehow. ____________________ Subject: Re: Austin, Stephen, b. 4 Nov 1755 Halifax, VA d. 1850 Hardin Co., TN Date: Sun, 7 Jun 1998 12:03:33 EDT From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Hi Debbie, Have visited your Austin page several times but don't recall that your Austins tie into your Hatcher family. I have an Austin line that was in Fairfield Co. SC (originally part of old Craven Co. SC) that probably came out of VA in the mid 1700s. Bartholomew and Elizabeth Austin had a daughter, Edith (Edy), who married William Hatcher. Their children were John, Nathan, Mary Ann, William and Keziah - think they had another daughter, Elizabeth, who's not mentioned in William's 1815 will. I have no idea where these children ended up. Anybody sound familiar? Carolyn Cooper

    1. William Henry Harrison AUSTIN
    2. Larry Oathout
    3. Still looking for William Henry Harrison AUSTIN (b. June 6, 1840) as a 10 year old in 1850 census and an un-married 20 year old in 1860. Family lore has his parents name as Samuel and Mildred but can't confirm this....William married Christena Samantha Ella WOOD dau of David WOOD and Sarah America WEBB in Albemarle Co. in 1864. They began their family of 15 children soon after, but where are they in 1870? Only clue so far is one of William's daughters, Alwilda (Allie) m. Thomas Lemuel COONS in MO. in 1898 and died there and the funeral home has her birth place as Smithville, VA. in 1874. According to 1854 Atlas, this is 39 miles west of Richmond in Powhatan Co. There is a William D. AUSTIN with wife Mildred in Cumberland Co. (next door) with an 11 year old William C. in the 1860 census. In 1880, they all are in White Hall Township in Albemarle Co. William's son, Luther b. 1869 is my direct line...he married Martha Grace COONS in Warsaw MO in 1898. Other children in William's family: Willie Ann-b. 1874, Eugene b. 1867, Fannie-b.1869, Lucelia b. 1871, Sallie, b. 1873, Mary b. 1875, Janette b. 1876, Noble b. 1877, Nettie b. 1879, Gracie b. 1883, Broaddus b. 1886, and Ella b unknown. All were born in VA. I don't know the identity of child #15, whether it was older, younger, or in the middle somewhere. Christena's obit says she died April 13, 1907 near Warsaw MO. William died in January that year and they are buried in the same plot with Noble and his wife. It states that 14 of the 15 children were living. It also says she "made a profession of religion when she was 17 and joined the Cedar Grove Baptist Church in VA. It lists the survivors as Willie Ann BALLARD, Lucelia BALLARD, and Ella BALLARD all of Charlottesville, VA., Allie COONS of Clinton, MO, Mary CHIPLEY of St. Louis, Nettie GRANT of Montana, Jennie WHITFIELD of Warrensburg, MO., Grace BOTTS of Sedalia, Fannie WOOD of LaMonte, and Allie PEMBERTON of Midland, TX. This makes me think that the AUSTIN's did not leave Virginia until after the three oldest sisters were married to brothers? cousins? By 1898, they are in MO. Will someone please breakdown this brick wall for me? Or adopt us? Thanks!

    2. I am just beginning my search for info on this side of the family. I have no idea who the parents were, where they originated, etc. ANY info would be greatly appreciated! The info I have is as follows: John Hilliard AUSTIN - b. 7/16/1870 (GA?) d 6/8/1939 m. Lizzie WHITE - Atlanta?, (Fulton, Henry or DeKalb Co.) Unknown if there were other children but had at least one daughter, Myrtice Harris AUSTIN, b. 8/16/1897 Atlanta, d 9/1/1924 Atlanta m. Arthur O. HAYES, Sr. Not sure if Myrtice was married previously or was adopted or what....On my father's birth certificate where it indicates 'maiden name', HARRIS is indicated. On other papers, her name is listed as Myrtice HARRIS AUSTIN so the HARRIS could be a middle name(?). John H AUSTIN had a brother named Horace M AUSTIN - b 3/29/1895. d 5/6/1954. Both John and Horace worked for Southern Railway in Atlanta. Myrtice AUSTIN and Arthur O. HAYES had one son, Arthur O HAYES, Jr. in Atlanta.
