The AUSTIN line that I am following is that of Samuel John AUSTIN from Virginia, he was a United Empire Loyalist (on the British side in the Revolution). He supposedly had seven (7) brothers that were not loyalists. Someone out there must have a Samuel that is unaccounted for or maybe disowned by the family. If your Samuel was born ca 1760 then maybe we have a match. You can find more detailed info at my homepage in the book report on 00Root-Austin at: http://www.FamilyTreeMaker.com/users/k/r/a/Arnold-Edwin-Krause-Saskatchewan Listed below are the children of Samuel John Austin. Ever since I have been connected with Austin Rootsweb, AFAOA, I have found no connections to my Austin line from The Outer Banks of NC. I have a connection to two seperate Austin Lines in NC. Thomas Austin I b. @ 1730 in Hatteras Harmon Austin b. 1784-1790 I would be interested in finding out where this line originated. If anyone has a line that migrated to this area in the mid to late 1700's, I would appreciate your response. I am particularry interested in when and from where they first came to America. Thank you, Winnie Austin Minson

Looking for these Austins - descendants and ancestors. This is a resend of this line for any new or renewed Austin researchers. I don't think I've made any progress on this line in 20 years! How can we have the line back to Adam and not be able to connect an Austin...? Where did he come from? Who was he and his family? All thoughts appreciated. I believe these Austins may have "gone through" Maryland quickly from Virginia possibly to Kentucky. They were (at least the later lines) very Catholic. I recently joined the list and am waiting patiently to see some postings regarding Australian or UK Austins - they all appear to be from USA. Michael Austin posted his lot, so I thought I would start the ball rolling with a query from down under: My GGGrandfather Charles Rudland Austin b. c1841, Rotherhithe, (near London)UK (came to Australia and started our family here) his father Edward Vaughan Austin, b. 21/8/1811, Surgeon to the Royal Kent Dispensary for the the Rotherhithe area lived at 3 Walker Place, Lower Rd, Rotherhithe m. Sarah Maria Rudland, I can not trace her on the IGI - anyone suggest how I can track her down? Edwards parents, according to IGI: Robert Nelson Austin and Catharine Vaughan There is a John Austin and Jane listed as parents of Robert Neslon Austin on the IGI, but thats as far as I got - any suggestions now, or anybody have the same people in their tree? Regards, Diane Westerhuis researching Austin, Black (Dumfries), Bolton, Callister (IOM), Davis, Flint, Hind/Hynds, McKenna, Meade, Peakes, Potter, Probin/Probyn, Rudland, Sharp, Smith (NSW) Solomon, Teare (IOM), Westerhuis, Wheeler, White, Willingham, NSW and UK, from sunny Townsville.
An interesting suggestion I read on another Rootsweb List was to ask list subscribers to post their lines. I'm attempting to locate information on James Henry Austin and his wife, Feby Frances Steele Austin, formerly of Silver Point, Putnam County, TN. Feby was born about 1877 and was the daughter of James and Mary Jane Bozarth Steele of DeKalb county, TN. She was the sister of my grand grandfather, James Lawson Steele. We have been informed that perhaps they lived out their lives in Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana, after moving there from Bald Knob Arkansas, where their home was completely destroyed by a tornado. I estimate they possibly died in the 1930's or 1940's. They had a son, James Henry Austin Jr., called "Buster" or "Bud". Everyone called Feby "Aunt Dude". Hope some of you have access to Indiana records and succeed in locating them! Thanks! Will Smith [email protected]
