Mary Ann Forsyth, d. 1797 in Liberty Co. GA. She was the daughter of John Forsyth and Mary L. Falconer and grandaughter of Stephen Tomlinson Falconer and Mary Hall. Batholomew's father was William Austin, d.1765 SC and married Elizabeth ?. My Questions: Is anyone else working on this line? I'd like to hear from you. Hope. this helps on your Francis Austin line. It is an extract from an analysis I am doing on the Samuel and Catherine Austin family. If you have any information from the 1910 census on Francis it would be helpful. Hal Steiner [email protected] President, Austin Families Association of America (AFAOA) - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - F. Francis Marion Austin Francis was the son of John Austin and Eliza (Louisa) Williams Austin. He was the son of Samuel and Catherine Austin of Burke County, NC and was born in Burke County in 1802. John Austin died in Greene County, MO in November 1882. John Austin married twice. His first wife was Rachel Freeman and they were married on 17 December 1835. They had one daughter named Cenath. Rachel died 10 March 1845 and, on 14 September 1848, John married a second time to Eliza Williams. They had five children. Apparently, Francis Marion was the last born. Francis was born 6 August 1860 in Greene County, MO. He died on 21 September 1951 and is buried in the Green Lawn Cemetery, Springfield, MO. On 6 July 1881, Francis married Nancy Jane Martin, who was born 2 February 1862. Nancy died on 28 October 1919. As recorded in the 1900 census, Francis and Nancy had the following children: 1. Lillie M. Austin was born April 1882 in Greene County, MO. 2. Dora E. Austin was born March 1884 in Greene County, MO. 3. Mattie E. Austin was born November 1888 in Greene County, MO. 4. William F. 2. Hello List: I am searching for clues to the whereabouts of an elusive gr father who spent some time in Illinois. I have conflicting first name references listed in SS app., delayed birth cert. and death certificates making me unsure if I am searching for an Alfred or an Albert who may have originally been from Ohio. I would like to hear from listmembers who might have family ties to an Alfred or Albert who married Elizabeth Mary FOWLER. Elizabeth, b. 1870s in Elgin, Illinois. Elizabeth was previously married to Albert ABELL and had at least one child, Juanita Nadia in 1904. In 1908 my father, Roy Stuart AUSTIN, was born in Chicago. Listmembers researching family in Cook or Kane Counties in Illinois may have references to these individuals. I would like to hear from you. Thank you, Lori

    1. Richard Austin Book
    2. Hello Austin Relatives, The Richard Austin Book has now been out for a couple of months and I would like to make some corrections to the book. First let me say that I think the book is wonderful. Jim and Liz Carlin did a great job with it and I have to give them all the credit in the world. I am not blaming them or anyone for the mistakes that were in the book. The info I sent to Jim and Liz could have been a mistake on my part, or on the transfer of the data, or made at time of publishing. It doesn't really matter. The only thing that matters is that the info is correct and that is what I want to do at this time. So, for anyone wishing to correct their data here goes: Page 477 last line - My mother's name is Ethilda Mae Rowlands not Ethlinda. Page 576 item 5011 - Same as above. Page 577 items 5012 and 5013 - Same as above. Page 578 item 5014 - Same as above. Page 576 item 5011 - Barbara Ann Austin married Thomas McAvoy on 6-4-1966. This was left out. Page 576 item 5011 - on page 577 birthdates for Thomas McAvoy 2-25-1967, Robert McAvoy 5-18-1969, and Brian McAvoy 1-28-1971 were left out. Page 577 item 5012 - Robert and Dawn Morningstar had 1 son should read, Robert Powlus and Dawn Morningstar had 1 son. Page 578 item 5014 - Donald Robert Austin, born 10 Dec 1972 - He is Donald Robert Austin III. Page 660 item 5942 - Steven did not marry Melissa Calenda yet. They are still together but have never married. (This is stated incorrectly once and correctly once.) Please also note that Daniel Lee Austin p 577 and myself, Donald Robert Austin Jr p 578 are twins (I am older by 40 minutes) and the info on Daniel's christening is the same as mine. At the present time they are the only mistakes I have found on my family. If anyone else has mistakes on their family I would like to see them corrected here or sent to me directly. I am trying to keep my records up to date. Thank you, Donald R Austin Jr.

    2. Pam Stone
    3. Hi, all, Thought I'd share some information I ran across yesterday at the library. In December of 1778, both William and David AUSTIN obtained land in Wilkes Co., NC [part of which became Ashe Co. in 1799, which then split to form Alleghany in 1859.] William's land was on Christian's Creek of the Mitchell River, and David's was on Butler's Creek of the Mitchell River adjoining Benjamin MAY and Jonas WALING. In December of 1779, Steven AUSTIN made a land entry for 50 acres on Christian's Creek and the fork of the Mitchell River "at his other line he bought of ROBINSON"; however, Steven AUSTIN's name was marked out, and William AUSTIN's name was written in. [This circumstance occurred when there were two conflicting concurrent claims, and the claim filed first superceded the other, as far as I have been able to determine.] Pam [email protected]

They later moved on to IT [OK] and then to TX, but at least some of the children remained in NW MS. All the children of David/Jones and Julia were b. in Hardin Co., TN. Known surviving children: (1) Mollie Ann AUSTIN [b. 1863; m. (1) 1878 James Judson "Judd" HOWERTON in Lee Co., MS; m. (2) after 1901, OK? TX?, Hugh Elli CHILDERS/CHILDRESS.] Mollie is reported to be buried in (1) Ft. Helen Lily ?????] Wm. was a Sheriff in Pontotoc, MS. William and Helen Lily had 3 children: Howard Lee AUSTIN, Carson AUSTIN, and Lily AUSTIN (m. Dr. DUNAVENT.) [William may have married a second time, in that Helen died relatively young, and William survived her by many years, but the name of a second wife and any other children are unknown at this time.] (3) George Washington AUSTIN [b. 1873; m. Pearl HERNDON/HEARNDON.] George taught school in Le Flore Co., and lived in 1916 in Grady Co., OK, but is buried in Chesterfield [small town that used to be near Pontotoc, I am told], MS, as is his brother, William F. George is said to have descendants in MS, and I would also like to find Lily and Carson's descendants. They also had proven children who may or may not have survived to marry: Mamie AUSTIN, b. 1862 Ella AUSTIN, b. 1869 There may also be missing siblings of Mollie, William and George named: David Preston, Clifford Pressley, Fannie, Nannie, or Lizzie, but that is only a rumor at this time. Of 8 children born to David and Julia, they stated that 5 survived, but that was late in their lives, and a child or children may have already married, had children, and predeceased them.
