I am interested in the Robert Austin, Jr. who was County Clerk of Limestone County, AL in 1833, when William Brundidge died. In Dec of 1845 he appears to be married to Elizabeth "late Elizabeth Brundidge" (the widow of William Brundidge) and the Guardian of her "infant children". I didn't have time to do through searching after finding this but there was nothing apparent in the records about either Robert or Elizabeth after 1845. I would appreciate any information available on these people. Sarah G.
Hello Everyone, I think everyone one of us has seen or used the FTM and they are wonderful keeping track of who is who and where they belong. Has anyone every seen 1 completely filled with someones work? It is a work of art! I have only ever saw 1 and couldn't believe how wonderful it is when all is filled in. The pictures, obits, war records, death cert. marriage cert. census, and so much more of all those things you collect and notes about everything. Pictures of them alive then pictures of there gravestones. I had the thought I wanted to do this! Well let me tell you I was beat before I even got started. There is so very much work in that little CD of work so if you ever get one realize you have found a true family researcher. She told me as long as she didn't forget to grab her CD case she always had all of her family research. A computer crash never bothered her research. Look at at all your files and think about scanning and putting all of that in the FTM then think about filling in all those notes and such on the FTM. Yes the FTM can hold it all the more you have it just takes more CDs to download it on to. Just a thought I wanted to share with you all and see if anyone has ever tried doing this? Hi, You are welcome to join the site. I just started it and don't have much of anything on it yet. I have no idea where the Austin line in ILL. is from as I myself have so very little on this family line. I just didn't want you going on thinking you may find some of your family there. Maybe someone on the Austin list will help straighten us out. Anyone out there that can help us? I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as "Grandma VANBUSKIRK" and her granddaughter Mrs. Minda AUSTIN. The photograph was taken at the Wood Studio in Troy, Pennsylvania and is dated 1894. The grandmother is likely in her 70's or 80's at the time and her granddaughter would appear to be in her 20's at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following census information regarding the family: 1870 census of Granville Township, PA: Mary VANBUSKIRK, age 50, Keeping House, born NY James VANBUSKIRK, age 24, Farmer, born NY Erastus VANBUSKIRK, age 20, Farm Laborer, born PA Mary VANBUSKIRK, age 19, born PA 1880 census of Granville, PA: Mary VANBUSKIRK, age 61, Keeping House, born NY, parents born NY Minda VANBUSKIRK, grandau, age 8, at School, born PA, parents born NY/PA Living directly next door - Erastus VANBUSKIRK, age 29, a Farmer, born PA, parents born NY Josephine VANBUSKIRK, wife, age 25, Keeping House, born PA, parents born PA Jenny Ma VANBUSKIRK, dau, age 4, born PA Millie VANBUSKIRK, dau, age 1, born PA 1900 census of Granville Township, PA: Mary VANBUSKIRK, age 81, born May 1819, widow, 6 children/4 living, born NY, parents born NY Minda M. John Payne is pleased to announce that his long-awaited THE BIG PAYNE BOOK will be available in October. It will be over 700 pages long, with 54 photos included. The cost of the book will be $36.00 plus $6.00 for shipping and handling. The first chapter is an essay on the history of our Payne family, which runs nearly a hundred pages. This concerns the history of the Payne family, focusing on the six sons of John and Frances Coleman Paine of Spotsylvania County, Virginia. Subsequent chapters will deal with the nine children of Robert and Rachel Lord Paine who had children, namely, Daniel and Nancy Payne, Catherine and Samuel Austin, Frances and William Fox, Katie and Moses Teague, Temperance and Elijah Austin, Rachel and James Payne, Elizabeth and Edward Teague, John and Mary Bradburn Paine, and Robert Payne and Mary Baker and Nancy McMahan. Catherine Payne was born 16 September 1771 in Spotsylvania County, VA, and lived there until she was about twelve. At that time she moved with her family to Culpeper County, Virginia, and then in 1789 to North Carolina. About 1796 she married Samuel Austin in Burke County, NC. He was born 29 August 1768 in Maryland, the son of Samuel Austin, Sr. and Mary Green. It seems likely that Catherine died in North Carolina between 1830 and 1834. In that year Samuel and most of his family left North Carolina for Greene County, Missouri. Samuel Austin died in 1854 in Greene County, and was buried the Austin Family Cemetery, Greene County; he was later moved to Hazelwood Cemetery, Greene County, Missouri. Samuel and Catherine had the following children: Anna Austin (1797-1882), who married Phillip Austin; Mary Austin (born ca 1799), who married Benjamin Berry Austin; Tempernace Austin (1801-1894); John Austin (1802-1882), married Rachel Freeman and Eliza Williams; Greene Benjamin Austin (1805-1885), who married Nancy Freeman and then Melissa Anderson; Jane Austin (born ca 1807), who married A.D. White; Catherine Austin (born 1809); Sarah T. Austin (born 1811); and Samuel Austin (born 1814), married Elizabeth Jane Halbert and Martha J. Baxter. Temperance Paine was born about 1782 in Spotsylvania County and moved to North Carolina with her family when she was about seven. On 8 August 1809 she married Elijah Austin in Burke County, NC. He was born 15 February 1774 in Orange County, North Carolina, the son of William Austin and Anne Jones.Temperance and Elijah both probably died in Burke County between 1840 and 1842. They were the parents of three children: John Austin (born 1810); Absalom Christfield Austin (1812-1872), who married Nancy Preston, Nancy Gass, and Cenath Caroline Austin Bass; and Mary Austin (born 1815). There are MANY sites which put invasive software on your computer. I believe this has already been fought in court and, as long as the software is not used for malicious purposes, found to be acceptible. Many sites use it to 'see' where you go and better target their advertising towards things you might want. Keep in mind there isn't a PERSON watching you, only a series of software programs. Most of the time when you visit a commercial site they place one of these bugs in your computer. There are two FREE shareware programs which find and delete these invasive programs - 'spybot' and 'adaware'. There are many programs which claim to be like these two, but they are the best. I believe both of them have a free version AND a higher-grade pay version. I have used the free versions for years and removed hundreds of tracking programs from my computer. The info on DSSagent is at this site. http://cexx.org/dssagent.htm George
To those interested I recently discovered that when you use family tree maker on your computer it installs a spyware called DSSagent which connects your computer to sights on the net that allows brouderbund to monitor your key strokes and steal your personal info. There is no way to delete the spyware or stop it installing other than removing the program. I think we should all file a class action suit against the maker of the software to stop them stealing our personal info I have researched the info online and found it to be true. George Allen

Thanks for your comments... I can sure understand the need for corrections.. but I have no control over that.. One of mine (also Pres. George W. Bush's) shows to have been born in France.. Not SO!!! His parents were young Huguenots who left France and went to Holland even before they married.. They then had 3 or 4 children (most whom died) in Holland.. then moved on to England where my patriot was born, and eventually to VA... I also wrote about another error and they told me that when they get all of the applications posted, they will then start reviewing corrections.. I have to extract and then edit each name.. Also I want to mention that I can help any lady who wants to be a DAR member... Just contact me off line at: _EllieSS@aol.com_ (mailto:EllieSS@aol.com) and I can get you started and find you a chapter near your home. Cheers, Ellie ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
Below I have listed the Rev War Patriots as listed by the DAR. These men have been documented to have performed service as noted, unless there is a notation otherwise. Some of the older applications weren't well documented so they are listed but any future applicants have to document.. that is usually in red. (Not sure how it will come through on this email???) Make note that some patriots had more than one wife. Those entries are counted as two or more.. e.g. If a man had two wives, that is counted as two entries.. The number of Austin patriots are listed as 98 entries. If anyone has a patriot or suspects they have a patriot, the name may be spelled as AUSTEN in your records, but the DAR Patriot Index lists all of them as AUSTIN. Any other variants are unknown by me, but I am open for research on this. If you have any questions about DAR (or SAR for the men) membership, please contact me by personal email. My email is: _EllieSS@aol.com_ (mailto:EllieSS@aol.com) I trust this will come through our system OK.. If not, please let me know..
