Francis died 1723, Burlington Co, NJ. [Bonnie Ladd Hamilton has marriage date as 15 Sept 1696 in Haddonfield MM]. I do not know that THIS Francis Austin is the one you inquire about. However, a Francis Austin is mentioned in The History of Guilford Connecticut - Its First Settlement in 1639 by Hon. Ralph D. Smith. This is where I started my 'dig' for information about my husband's Austin ancestor, John Austin, first of CT and then of VT. I have been searching for John Austin's parents with no proven success. However, one of the people I looked at was a Francis Austin mentioned in the above. This man who was in Guilford in the 1650s and was supposedly a founder was apparently lost at sea -- "who embarked in the Lamberton ship and was lost..." The footnote says: "Francis Austin is supposed to be the ancestor of the Austins who resided formerly in the north part of North Guilford, from whom descended Stephen Austin formerly of that village, who figured so conspicuously in the history of Texas and after whom the city of Austin was named." This information does not jive with other Stephen/Moses family histories and I have tried to find out exactly where the difference occurred with no success. And, I still do not know who JOHN AUSTIN' parents were.

Looking for info on Isaac Austin b. Oct. 9, 1855 in Elmira Chemung Co,NY. He was ther son of Eli and Nancy Morris Austin. He was living in Cass City, Tascola Co., Michagan in the 1900 census. Does anyone have a Harlan Austin in their family? He was born in Elmira, Chemung Co.,NY on July 23,1863 as Amos Harlan Austin. His parents were Eli and Nancy Morris Austin. According to his brothers will in 1903 he was living in Marysville, Pa. I have been unable to find him on a census for that area. Would like to find out who he married and other family info. I'm trying to identify my elusive AUSTIN line. My ancestor, Maria AUSTIN, was born 12 May 1799 in Sprakers Basin, Montogomery Co, NY. She is said to be the daughter of a Hessian soldier. (Hessians were the German troops who fought with the British in our Revolution.) In 1832 Maria married Asa SIBLEY in Hartsville (a hamlet of Manlius), Onondaga Co, NY. A John AUSTIN, slightly older than Maria, lives in close proximity to the SIBLEY family during the periods of the censuses of 1830, 1840, and 1850, but I don't know if he is related to Maria or not. I have not yet been successful in finding more information on her father. Do any of these sparse details fit with any of the known NY AUSTIN lines? He was born 06 March 1849 in England. Came to US in 1872 and settled in Johnstown, PA. His wife's name was Emma Mae Burgess Austin. They had 13 children: Henry, Dewey, Fred, Johnm, William, Walter, Ethel, Alice, Mary Daisey, Mabel, Emma and Pearl. Do not know his parent's names or exactly where he was born.
