    3. Hi List, I got this query via the web site and hope someone may be able to help Carol in England. Please answer to her. I've checked the Vic. BDMs and can't find a Samuel. Cheers Jacqui ----- Original Message ----- From: carolcornford To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, November 25, 2001 6:08 AM Subject: Search info on Great Grandfather / Grandfather I am searching any information on my great grandfather /grandfather , both called Samuel Thrower . My grandfather came from Melbourne , but I don't know if he was actually born in Australia ,although Ihaven't been able to find an entry for a birth in the U.K. My grandfather joined the British Army in 1914 and was discharged early in 1917. He married my grandmother in 1918 and never went back to Australia .He died in the 1930's from heart trouble. My great grandfather also called Samuel was supposed to have worked for the Post Office as a Postmaster . He was listed as retired, when my grandfather married. My grandfather would have been born somewhere about 1894-1896.There is some discrepancy about his age ,since his age on marriage and death vary by about 3 years. He may have lied about his age to enlist. My only other information is that my grandfather had a brother called Victor ,who also came to the U.K. but was killed by a train, also a sister who was a mannequin( model?).She ! may have been married also. There is an entry for a Mrs E.Green in his bible. My grandfather was also involved with The International Bible Students Association or Russellites ( now known as Jehovah's Witness) I assume this must have been after his army service. I was hoping to find a notoice of possibly a death or marriage in your index, but i wasn't successful. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Yours Carol Cornford.
