Wondering if anyone out there has any information they would like to share. In return I have various bits of information on Cruickshanks in Australia that I have accumulated during my search. In particular....I would like to know how my ancestors got out to Australia. I have read various passengers lists but cant seem to match any in properly. I have enlclosed below all the information I have accumulated to date. None of the family (including myself) seemed too interested in their ancestors...until I have recently....so therefore anything further back than my grandfathers on both sides is very sketchy. But now I have a bit more on my grandmother Aspinall's side. Hoping that maybe someone might be able to make some connections. The CRUICKSHANK side originally came from Scotland.....Aberdeen to Glasgow aparently. It is said that they came from convict stock.....but I can find no record of them on convict lists I have read. 2. I am pretty sure that both the CRUICKSHANK's & the ASPINALL's came from Victoria to the Goldfields in Western Australia. 3. The WARD's or the DICKSON's originally came from south of England. Aparently they were upper class. 4. Either the LODGE, WARD or DICKSON's are aparently descendents of Sir Walter Raleigh. My Father : Peter Graham CRUICKSHANK married..... He also had gold leases at Laverton & single mens quarters in Port Hedland, West Aust. Previously he had been involved in mining leases at Menzies, Sandstone & Yunami. Before he decided to go back to the Goldfields he was a registered builder in Perth, West Aust. We had lived as a family in Osborne Park, North Beach, Karrinyup, Duncraig (West Aust). After the divorce he based himself in Scarborough but mainly stayed at his business interests in the gold fields. Met Marilyn in Bullfinch in 1958. Peter's Mother: Frances Amy Veronica Aspinall in approx. 1920's >From information recieved....Amy Frances Veronica Aspinall was born in 1912 in Horsham (Reg. No. 12586) to Titus Aspinall and Sarah Ellen Dennison. Other children were Ethel Eileen Ida, born 1909, Grace Edith born 1902, Wm Titus Denison born 1907, Mary Elizabeth born 1905, Eleanor Margaret born 1899 all born in Horsham. Titus and Sarah were married in Dimboola in 1899 and the Reg. No. was 2607. A Titus Aspinall died in 1934 in Horsham, aged 76, son of Wm. Titus and Margaret Davidson, who were married in 1853. The birth of Titus should be about 1858. Sarah Aspinall died in 1966 in Horsham (aged 86) and it showed that her parents were Fred Dennison and Ellen Taylor. Transfered to Perth when mine closed in 1954 and worked there until she got married in 1960. After married she continued to live in Perth apart from when she followed my father working on different sites around wheatbelt & goldfields. Now living in South West of Western Australia. Marilyn's Father: Robert (Bob) William LODGE B: 4/12/1908 D: approx. 1994 Robert's Siblings: Frank......(daughters: Marlene, Valerie, Janice & Robert) , Oliver (died 6 mths old of meningitis) married ........... 1938 Marilyn's Mother: Audrey Nona LODGE (nee: WARD-DICKSON) B: 21/01/1917 D: 23/07/1997 Audrey's Children: Marilyn Nona, Roberta (Bobbie) Ann, Patricia Beryl (Patti), Leanne Elizabeth (Lee) Audrey's Known Siblings: Beryl, Nancy, Frank (dec), Jean (dec) Audrey's Father: Albert George DICKSON Audrey's Mother: Nona Elizabeth WARD Bob & Audrey spent most of their life in the goldfields. Bob was shift boss at the Big Bell minesite @ Cue , West Aust, for 16 years 1938 - 1954 when Bob went to Mt Magnet & they based their family in Yokine, Perth. They then went to the Prothero lead mine jsut out from Geraldton until about 1956. Bob and Audrey then moved to Bullfinch in approx. 1956 until 1964. (they kept house at Yokine & rented it out) They then moved to Three Springs where Bob managed the talc mine there. Patricia & Leanne attended Three Springs primary school & Carnamah high school. Marilyn & Bobbie left school at 14yrs old to go to work. Bob was also in WWII....I dont know what as. He and Audrey kept in touch via mail, which is how he proposed to her. Bob was enlisted at least until Marilyn was 2 yrs old I think.
