Victoria Police Gazette, April 13, 1855. "Sydney Crime Reports, 11th January, 1855. Constable James CONNELLY, who absconded from the Metropolitan Police on 6th January, has surrendered himself. He has been re-attested under his proper name, Dennis HARKEY; he assumed the name of CONNELLY, having purchased an emigration ticket from a man of that name at Birkenhead, with which he obtained a passage to this Colony. For this fraud he has this day been dismissed the force."
