Hi Listers I would like your thoughts on where next to search for Deep sea Divers from1879 1910. Not many around then , I should think. My grandfather Thomas Jennings Fawkner arrived here in Sydney in1879 Born in Clovelly Devon 1841 He did go to Boston for a short time before arriving here I have a photo of a group of hard hat divers on a punt in Sydney .I can make out "Divers Hire Punt" , there are 5 divers[Thomas is one ] and 13 hands . I would say to take turns at the pump. Thomas did a lot of work in Sydney waters and the Northern Rivers repairing the wharf and pileons In 1900 he was sent to Norfolk on his own to blast out the harbour I have a diary to this effect , but can find nothing on divers at all in Sydney. The Public Works employed him also , but the archives have no records of divers Where do I look? Trish in Sydney
