Heaps of thanks for the extracts from Diggers for although I have searched them before, you geared me up to do a proper analysis. Some I know (family) and can even correct some details, others have incorrect parents and the only ones that may be grandfather siblings have unknown parents. Only information I am working on is: Grandfather-married Oct. 1905, age 32 (i.e. born 1873).States born Gippsland, father as Thomas MATLOCK, carpenter and mother Maria Hallam. Death certificate June 1947, age 73 (i,e, 1874). States born Victoria, father Thomas Matlock, carpenter, mother Maria Hallan. Based on the above, I have been looking for a birth cert. for William and anything on Thomas and Maria above - first in Gippsland, then Victoria and now anywhere. Assumptions-date of birth is probably right, parents were therefore probably born 1873/4 less say 20 years. Say 1835/1853. By the way, the details on Hallam unloaded on Excel and was difficult. If it was a death cert. may possibly be Marias father or sibling. Having fun, Geoff
