Well yes, Point Henry is close to Geelong - where the Alcoa plant is nowadays. With a huge pier. About 5-10 min from Geelong by car. A lot of immigrants came through Point Henry apparently, though I have not checked this for myself. I suspect the port of Geelong, a couple of miles further up at the end of Corio Bay, was a separate port. It is now, although who knows about the administration side of it. Sorry I can't help further Dawn (Melbourne with family living in Geelong) -----Original Message----- From: Deirdre McDougall [mailto:deirdremc@bigpond.com] Sent: Tuesday, 6 May 2003 4:09 PM To: AUSSIE-GEN-RESEARCH-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [A.G.R. ] MOVING INTERSTATE 1890's Hi Listers can sks please tell me where to look for passenger lists of families moving from Brisbane abt 1890 to Geelong or Port Henry [I think that's the port near Geelong] my GG's were in Geelong 1894 and I would like to know how they got there ?? Good afternoon I am seeking descendants of Michael Connolly who was born May 27 1840 in Kilcarry near Bagnalstown County Carlow Ireland. Michael left Ireland in 1857 and came to Victoria Australia. His brother Thomas also arrived in Victoria mid 1870's. In 1860 Michael become a partner in a coaching line in Victoria, married Maria Hayes and had four children. The two children to survive infancy were William John Connolly (b 1864 d 1899) and Edward Peter (b 1864 d 1941) William left two daughters who did not marry and Edward had five children, two or three of whom married. These children were Hilda Josine, Edward William and Patricia. I am looking for descendants of these three children. There is much to share, and also a descendant of Thomas, would like to get in touch with any descendants. Thomas raised Michael's sons after their father's death in 1899. Hoping someone can respond regards Denise
Does anybody lay claim to the above who arrived aboard the convict ship Elphinstone on 24 May 1836. He was twice sentenced at Glasgow for deportation but the first of these may not have taken place. I have reason to believe he may well have added a further Christian name around 1845 but wish to check and see if anybody else has information concerning this individual. I do possess all the Court papers concerning this person and it is in excess of 100 pages. Roy
Its near St Marys (NSW) Yours Roy Hurlstone
Can someone please tell me where the Parish of South Creek would have been in 1828. I think it is near Parramatta. Anything to do with Hoxton Park? Many thanks Cass

Lucky you it was our Qld state library I was quoting. Will remember that if I get to Melbourne to research eventually. I shudder whenever I look at my filing. You don't notice it a bit at a time but when you see it all together!!!!!!!!! but maybe it is just the mess I am shuddering at. But I guess no different to smoking and twice the fun and still cheap entertainment if you look at it that way. It is most unlikely you could buy a paper of that date but you could try abebooks on the web, The better approach would be to visit your local public library, look up the paper on microfilm and then print off the details you want. If you can't find the file locally, I am sure there are regular readers on this forum who would be pleased to look it up for you. Cheers Ian -- ianwelch@coombs.anu.edu.au

Hi Deirdre, If you copy it from the micro film at the library, you can get an A3 page at about 50cents a per page. So you may be able to get the whole paper. Cheers Jacqui
Thanks Jackie C and John Paul for site But I found the papers are a little out of my price range so will have to settle for a photo copy of a couple of pages. regards Deirdre deirdremc@bigpond.com
