Hello again Jeannine, I have found your last email very easily! At the moment, I have no evidence to connect my Bateups with your Bateups. However, given the fact that all the Bateups I have seen have come from SUSSEX and allowing for long time spans between the oldest and youngest siblings, many of them could be related. This is especially so when you consider that generally siblings didn't come together, but an elder one came several years before a younger one. This seems to have happened in both our families. One interesting family that I found on IGI is this: Samuel and Elizabeth BATEUP (in Sussex) had many children (I don't know them all- as I don't how to work the IGI properly!), including: 1. Samuel chr. on 15.2.1795 at Brede, Sussex 2. Mary chr. 26.4.1801 at Brede Sussex 3. Richard chr. 5.12.1802 at Brede Sussex 4. Maria chr. 18.1.1807 at Brede Sussex 5. Jacob chr. 17.4.1809 at Brede Sussex 6. Esau chr. 17.4.1809 at Brede Sussex 7. Thomas chr. 12.4.1812 at Brede Sussex I don't know how many of these came to NSW, but: 1. Thomas and Martha Bateup were here by 1839 (child James born), and possibly earlier as an infant George Bateup died in 1837 in NSW. Thomas Bateup died at Redfern in 1889. 2. Esau Bateup married Anne Eldridge in Rye, Sussex in 1837. A son John was born in NSW in 1844. Esau died in Sydney in 1886 and Anne died in Redfern in 1887. This family could be related to all the other BATEUPs here! We must keep hunting. Hello Listers, Would a kind soul help me with this please. Sybella Mackay's death certificate indicates that she died on 18 Sept 1873 at Melbourne Street, East Maitland and two days later was buried at the Presbyterian Burial Ground, East Maitland. However, the monumental inscription for Sybella and her husband John, is in the Hiland Cemetery at East Maitland. Are these one and the same place? Best wishes Sybil Cameron

Hello Listers In tidying up some bits & pieces, I found a paragrapha about my 5 x ggf (John DRINAN, DRENNAN etc), his wife Margaret ms RALSTON and some of their descendants. One of his grandsons, Wallace DRINAN (s/o John's son William DRINAN) is listed as "in Australia". There is a bit of a mystery here as one note says John & Margaret's son William was born in 1770; another that Wallace's father William (s/o John & Margaret) was born in 1787. Maybe the first one died and another born later. I don't know when this would have been, but Wallace was born in 1835 so I'm guessing the late 1800s. The note doesn't say which State. Have recently obtained the death certificate for ARTHUR JOSEPH BROWN which states he married SARAH BROWN in Parkside, Adelaide Sth. Australia. Marriage possibly took place around 1895. Their first 3 children must have been born in Sth. Aust also as unable to find them in Victoria, where the family moved back to around 1903 and remained until Arthur's death in 1924. Yesterday I took the plunge and gave the above site my credit number and looked for my missing link. The site appears to be useless and I regard it as a waste of money. The information consists of a name and a year, no place or anything that would help you to identify the person you are looking for. You have to pay another hefty fee to obtain more information. To make matters worse, I fed in a family name that should have returned a reasonable number or names and NOT ONE came up. This data base is definitely incomplete. I would be very wary of parting with your money to the above people. Regards, Mary
