I noticed on the WW2 Nominal Rolls recently an entry of a Matthew Aird, born 1919, Lanark Scotland and enlisted in the Australian Army in 1942, Cleveland, Qld. I have Aird ancestry and Matthew is a family name. This Matthew Aird maybe still living. This is my first query in Australia, believing that my Airds' did not come here. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Cheryl Mackay, Queensland
For The past couple of years I have listed a Daylesford & District History at http://www.sebas.vic.edu.au/staff/ndarwin/contents.htm This original draft was written over 10 years ago and rather than have it sit in the bottom drawer I made it available for all to see. Many researches have contact me both with added info and corrections. I hope to now take these and fill out the research. I am interested in including some family history as related to families involved in the early guest houses, farm workers, timbercutter storekeeper. But not limited to these vocations.H@ND Publishing Norm & Heather Darwin GMHistory@rgt.com.au

Nicole I am interested in the line you ae doing. Only because it may come together somewhere way back. I am doing the usher/ussher family The line I am interested in came about the same time and the Henry I have ...arrived, with his sister Mary, per ship "Escort" in 1858 He was a sibling of seven descendants of a John Ussher and Catherine Ryan from Templemore, Tipperary. Ireland, six of whom travelled as they were old enough to (I think) Sydney, Australia. They all came at different times... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nicole Page" <nicolepage@netyp.com.au> To: <AUSSIE-GEN-RESEARCH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, December 29, 2002 12:30 PM Subject: [A.G.R. ] USHER > Hi > > Does anyone have any information on or are related to USHER's?? > > More specifically Job USHER and his brother Henry USHER, they came to > Australia around July 1840 on "Fairlie". > Job's wife is Eliza/Eliza AXFORD, and Henry's wife is Ann AXFORD - they are > sisters. I am looking for information about a George Oliver Gill who would have lived in Adelaide, South Australia about 1904. He had an illegitamate child to Florence May Knaggs. He is the father of my grandmother (Violet May born 2/8/1904). Violet's birthdate was known as 21/5/1904. Violet May was cared for by Albert Hugh Donnithorne brn 27/5/1882 and Emma Annie Knaggs brn 17/4/1876. Would appreciate any information about this George Gill.
