Jack arrived from Newcastle, UK, about 1925. He worked as a truck driver around Manjimup (possibly for Son Muir), cut sleepers in Cowaramup and was a sawyer in the timber industry. His mother was Susan (Cissy) GILL (nee FAWELL) from Busselton, where she was a shop assistant for many years. Jack's wife, Olive, was a teacher. Her first posting was Cowaramup about 1927, later in Nyamup and Manjimup, and she ended teaching in the Abrolhos Islands.
