QUINN'S POST (GALLIPOLI) : Dr Peter STANLEY is researching for his next book and is seeking information from descendants and relatives of any men who served at Quinn's Post, Gallipoli. The book will tell its story from the first hours of the landing on April 25, 1915, to present. Quinn's Post was the Anzac position farthest inland, where Anzac and Turkish lines came within a dozen yards of each other. As a result, the trenches were exposed to almost constant Turkish fire and bombs throughout the campaign. The post is now the location of a small cemetery. Quinn's was held by several units, but the one with the greatest WA connection was the 16th Battalion. Archives and memoirs hold much information but there must be more material still out in the community that he hopes to consult.
