PRIVATE PUBLICATION : Lyle SOLOMON's A Gunner's Diary, is an autobiographical account that describes a little of the early history of WA as well as experiences in the El Alamein and New Guinea theatres of war during World War II when Lyle served with the 2/4th Australian Light AA (11th Battery). Lyle farmed land from Morawa to York and Quairading when teams of horses worked the land. After prospecting, he became a drilling contractor and started Niagara Drilling, covering many parts of the State in search of minerals and water. 171 pages. $24 (inclusive).
