    3. Hi Toni, Thanks for the suggestion, I'll keep trying to find out about them Thanks Michaela Morgan Hobart, Tasmania, Australia ----- Original Message ----- From: "David McKay" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, March 25, 2003 6:53 PM Subject: [AUS-WA] FROM VICTORIA TO WESTERN AUSTRALIA > Michaela, > My grandmother went to WA from Victoria before the turn of the century with her aunt and her family. Her aunt's husband was a carpenter and he went to work on the building of Fremantle harbour. Perhaps your ggggrandmother went to WA to be with one of her children who did a similar thing. 3. Hi Michaela Around 1895 the eastern states were hit with a recession, very few jobs and money scarce and gold had been found in Western Australia so there was you could say a mass exodus of people from Victoria and NSW to WA. This could explain why.
