G'day Listers Recently finding yet another distant cousin I have become aware that I am connected to another WA family previously unknown to me. I would appreciate anything that any members can add to the following details: Charles Roberts b 1811 arr WA circa 1840 d 2.3.1855 (Perth) married 24.1.1844 at Perth WA to Emma Lydia Perry b 11.8.1825 d 14.6.1910 Emma Perry arrived December 1840 per "Island Queen" as a servant to Mrs Austin. Charles Roberts arrival is unknown. He was a illiterate was a Sawyer in Perth 1844?. In 1846 he was working at York as a labourer. Returning to Perth in 1853 he was working as a fencer at Mt Eliza (Better known nowadays as Kings Park). Charles employed 6 Ticket of Leave convict men 1851, 1853 and 1854. Children were ; 1 Gifford Edward Roberts b 1844 d 1916 2 John Roberts b 1846 3 Thomas Roberts b 1848 4 Martha Roberts b 1850 5 Sarah & Hannah Roberts b 1853 6 Charles Roberts b 1858 7 Frances Roberts b 1861 1 Gifford Edward Roberts b 27.1.1844 (WA) d 26.11.1916 married 19.4.1871 Charlotte Nairn b 21.9.1851 (WA) d 6.5.1942 daughter of James Nairn and Sarah Pettit. Gifford was a Shepherd but by 1855 was Manager of "Yatheroo" for Walter Padbury (WA's Richest Man during that time) Gifford bought "Kyanaka" at Dandaragan in 1869 and property "Yatheroo" in 1892. He was chairman of the Road Board and President of the Royal Agricultural Society. Winner of the 1st Governors Cup in 1896 and won it on three other occassions. He bred and raced horses including winners of the WA Derby and Perth Cup. He employed 4 Ticket of Leave convicts on occassions between 1873-1883. Visited England leaving on the "Charlotte Padbury" 8.1.1880. William son of George William Cobby and Jane Lovett. William worked in the Lands Department. He took up land at Thompson's Brook.
