FAMILY REUNIONS : LEPPER / HOKIN : William Henry LEPPER married Kathleen May HOKIN in Victoria in 1897. They had 11 children: Ethel May (m. ALLEN), William Charles Roy, Emily Eva (m. CARTER), Arthur Sidney, Marion Alice (m. WITNEY), Margery Lillian (m. CLIFTON), Ruby, Elsie Dardanelle (m. MURFIT), Dorothy Kathleen (m. MUHS), Daisy Victoria (m. WALKER) and Violet Harriet (m. TULL). A reunion celebrating 100 years in Gosnells will be held on Sunday, October 30. Surnames include YANDELL, BESSELL-BROWNE, STRICKLAND, THOMAS, and SHEATHER. The Alfred Hines camps were established in 1941 as a vacation and respite for children with disabilities. Anyone who has been connected to the organisation, particularly children or their carers who attended camps in Point Peron or other locations, are asked to get in touch. BEATIN BRASS : Christine MORGAN, hopes to hear from fellow members of the Beatin' Brass. The popular 60s band played at balls in the country and other city venues including Ascot Racecourse. Daryl SEXTON, was the band leader. Christine also performed with the Surveyors band, about 1968. They played mostly at gigs in Fremantle at the Flying Angel Club, among others. Author Darryl CLOHESSY, whose father Gil CLOHESSY was a member, based the book on army records and incidents recalled by members while training at Melville Camp, then through to Jurien Bay, Darwin, New Britain and the Battle for Australia. The launch will be at ll/28th Battalion RWAR, Irwin Barracks, Stubbs Terrace, Karrakatta, Saturday, October 29. All visitors to be on site before 9am.
