Descendants and other interested people will revisit the life and times of Bridget on the 150th anniversary of her death on October 15. The writer is seeking anyone with a connection to, or knowledge of, the events which lead to her trial and execution. Their children, born in Victoria, include Richard LEWIS who was born in 1874 and died in East Perth in 1903, Rosanna born 1878 (m. GORDON) and Alexander Maguire LEWIS, born 1883. Alexander served in World War I with the 16th Battalion. He was unmarried and joined up from Perth in September 1914 but died from wounds on the island of Lemnos, Greece on August 12,1915. ROYAL WA HISTORICAL SOCIETY : Robert Muir, who specialises in old and rare books, will speak about "The Mapping of Australia" at the next History in the City meeting to be held on Wednesday, October 5. Organised by the Women's Auxiliary of the Royal WA Historical Society, the meetings are open to everyone. They are held in the conference room of Cityplace Community Centre, Perth Railway Station concourse. Cost: $5 a person (includes afternoon tea). Contact: 9386 3841. ARMED SERVICES ALBANY EVENT : TS VANCOUVER, Albany, is celebrating its 50th anniversary. A Freedom of Entry parade will be held in the town on Friday, October 7 at 11am to which ex cadets of TS Vancouver are welcome to join (assemble corner of Serpentine Road and York Street). The TS Vancouver Navy Cadet Unit, Princess Royal Drive, will be open for any interested person on Saturday, October 8 from 4.30pm to 5.45pm after which there will be a cocktail party at the Stirling Club (invitation only). BUNKER PROJECT : Do you know of bunkers anywhere in Australia, or heard of one? Perhaps you served in any of the Main Road construction works, civilian construction works or Navy, Army or RAAF engineer works establishments during World War II. Were you a surveyor or geophysical surveyor or transport driver? Do you have skills that will assist in uncovering this important part of our wartime history? Any information — no matter how big or small — may be the key to locating one of these forgotten systems. He is attempting to organise a group tour in May 2006 of 10 to 16 people slanted towards those interested in aviation and war graves. The group will visit Amiens in France and Toulouse to watch the new Airbus A380 being built before visiting the World War II invasion areas in Normandy then back to England. A coach tour in England will include an air show and another aviation museum at Yeovil (Fleet Air Arm). Business Class travel with two nights in Hong Kong. Information also sought about army nurses, medical personnel and VADs (Voluntary Aid Detachment) who served at Barracks Hospital or 8 AGH (Base Hospital) from 1918 to 1921.
