To make ends meet while attending teachers training college, the Dutch immigrant made simple wooden ironing boards that he sold in the neighbourhood. These boards were different to those used by the local housewives where one end was placed on a table and the other on the back of a chair. Frank's ironing boards had unfolding legs so that the board was entirely free for ironing. Does anyone remember Frank BOUWMAN and his ironing boards? Is there one still in existence?
