Their children included Thomas, Alfred and Henry. Henry married Anne WILSON in 1859 and pioneered Traralgon, Victoria. Their children were Mary Ann (m. WALSH), Thomas, Johanna (m. COOPER), Emily (m. LEAHY), Florence, Henry and Albert. About 1900 Henry Sr moved to WA with six of his children, including son Henry Jr the writer's grandfather who married Hanora PRICE in Perth in 1907. They are thought to have had at least one child, Kath. The Broughtons had a wood yard on the Kalgoorlie-Boulder road. Contact: R. McLernon, 9776 1362. COLONIAL SCHOOL : Joseph Keys LOGUE arrived in the Swan River Colony from Ireland in August 1837. He settled in the Swan Valley and opened a school for the "Sons of Gentlemen" in Middle Swan in 1853. The school later moved to Herne Hill and Millendon, Upper Swan. It was described as an Academy, Grammar School or "the first university of its kind in the Swan Valley". After 1860, it was operated by son George Washington LOGUE at Fairlawn, Upper Swan. Seeking information for family history about the school location and names of staff and students. Contact: Fred Logue, 9349 7495. COWARAMUP SCHOOLDAYS : The school started 1.6km south of Cowaramup on the road to Margaret River in 1924 and closed in 1960 when it was transferred to Cowaramup town. A special "photo shoot" has been arranged to be held at the old school on January 26 at 10.30am for all past students and teachers of the school. Organisers are hoping for a big turnout. A particular request is for all attending on the day to bring along their written "memories", to be compiled fairly soon for all to enjoy and reminisce about. EAGLEHAWK PIONEERS : The Eaglehawk Pioneer Register Vol 5 R-S is now at the printers and will be launched in Bendigo, Victoria, in March. This news will be of interest to the many descendants of the early Eaglehawk pioneers who are living in WA. The publishers of the non-profit Pioneer Register are now working on Volume 6 containing surnames T to Z. They are desperately seeking birth, death and marriage certificates local to the Bendigo, Sandhurst and Eaglehawk areas, including old photos, obituary cards, documents and lists of achievements to break up the text. They are also interested in cemetery records for the Boulder (WA) cemetery because many of the Eaglehawk pioneers moved to WA and eventually died in Boulder. NELSON SOCIETY : The Nelson Society of Australia will conclude its celebrations of the bicentenary of the death of Lord Nelson by commemorating the funeral of Lord Nelson, which took place at St Paul's Cathedral on January 9,1806. A service will be held at St Michael's Church, Mt Pleasant, on Sunday, January 8, at 11.30am and a capsule will be buried in the church grounds. The capsule will contain items relating to the celebration of the 200th anniversary of Trafalgar and will be reopened in 2055. The ceremony will be followed by drinks and refreshments. If anyone has any charts from January 11, 1959, to July 26,1963, he would love to hear from you. The project was started in the 1980s and the program manager at the time gave permission and wished him luck with the project. Apparently the charts have been discarded and an all-out effort is being made to complete the book by mid-2006. Contributors will be acknowledged in the book. Mary Ann was under the age of 21 and her father was William WARD, a bricklayer. Can anyone help with any information about Mary Ann's family and how she arrived in WA? Tel: 9534 3730. WHEATLAND-CLINCH : Jesse WHEATLAND-CLINCH was born in Berkshire, England, in 1882. He served in the Boer War and migrated to Australia about 1903. Jesse enlisted in the 10th Light Horse, AIF, in 1914 (No. 254) but did not serve overseas. He returned to Britain and was commissioned in the RFC in 1916 and finished the war as a Flying Officer in the RAF. In 1918 Jesse married Margaret THOMAS of Oxford. The had a least one daughter and the family returned to Perth in 1923. Jesse died in Perth in 1942 and is buried in Karrakatta Cemetery. Any information about this man, his wife and family, between the the Boer War and World War I and subsequently, would be greatly appreciated by hamily historians.
