The plaques will be displayed in the memorial rotunda built by the Advance Dandaragan Progress Association in Pioneer Park. The tour takes in Hong Kong, England and France and is slanted towards those interested in aviation and war graves. There are many other interesting sites on the full itinerary, including a visit to Monet's garden and the Airbus factory in France. Accommodation in London will be at the RAF Club. A notice in Can You Help? boosted the original numbers to secure a coach with capacity of 25 instead of 16 so there are still several places available which Tony is hoping to fill. The writer is researching both companies and wants to hear from (a) past employees who may know how many of these machines were sold into WA and (b) anyone who may have bought one. He has the starting engine from a 33RB excavator (serial number 11726). Production records from Ruston Bucyrus, Lincoln, England, show this particular excavator was sold to Harris, Scarfe and Sandover on March 18,1949. FAMILY REUNIONS McKAY and MacKAY : Jane McKAY (nee SCOTT) with daughters Jane and Mary along with their "German cousins" Jack and Helen MacKAY (nee SCOTT) and children Daisy, John and Ken, arrived in WA from Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1905. To wrap up a centenary year of celebrations, a picnic in Kings Park will be held at the Vietnam Memorial in May Drive on Sunday, December 18, between noon and 4pm. Tel: 93301109. mailto:judith.lancaster@bigpond.com LEWIS / DAVIES : Looking for the families of sisters Emily and Sarah Mildred DAVIES, who were born in Shropshire, England, in 1882 and 1886 respectively and emigrated to WA. Sarah married Samuel Ernest LEWIS and they had one daughter, Sarah. Samuel died in Bruce Rock in 1942 and Sarah died in South Perth in 1950. Emily married Alexander AITKEN in York, WA, in 1919 and had two children, Phyllis and Colin. Emily died in Wooroloo in 1966. There is a family history available of the LEWIS family going back to the mid-1700s if relatives are interested. Sarah and Emily were descended from the same line through their mother Frances Harriet DAVIES (nee LEWIS). It is known he spent his final years in Bentley Nursing Home, which no longer exists. He was single with no children at the time of death. Joseph emigrated to Perth in 1930 under the George LANSBURY employment scheme and worked as a linesman. Any information would be greatly appreciated on behalf of his nephew in England. Joseph was his favourite uncle but they lost touch during World War II. Hoping to hear from a friend, carer or employer to fill in the missing years.
