Information is sought from those who remember these bombing attacks and allied activities and how they influenced our population, (i) What were the psychological or physical ramifications on individuals, couples, families, hospitals and schools and so on? Children do not need to be Dutch. The afternoon's events will begin at noon with traditional Dutch story-telling followed by traditional games and singers before the arrival of Sinterklaas and his helper Swarte Piet at 1.40pm. There will be an opportunity for photos with the children at 2pm. (Sinterklaas is also known as St Nicholaas, the Patron Saint of Children and is the equivalent of the Anglo-Australian Father Christmas/Santa Claus.) Among some notes it states he was a president of the UGLY MEN'S CLUB and was also awarded the King's Police Medal. In 1940 he was interned with most other aliens in UK. First he was put in internment camps and then the Pioneer Corps but spent the later part of the war in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) alien corps stationed in Italy until demobbed in 1946. Various nationalities were interned. Interested to speak to anyone who was interned or was in an alien corps in England during World War II regardless of their nationality to help with family history research.
