    3. Dear Marilyn and Dave, I live in Australia, and can tell you, you will not find any census records from here they are always destroyed by law, your idea of a will is most likely your best bet, and you can search Victoria on www.prov.vic.gov.au/archivesvictoria or Email them at archivesvictoria@dvc.vic.gov.au and for New South Wales you can search on http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyhistory/searchhistoricalrecords.htm I had a look at my CDs and found John CASH age 36, married Elizabeth Dunks age 28, in Tasmania on the 28 Oct 1844, reg. no. 1453. this will be the one you refer to, unfortunately the indexes do not give any further information. And a John CASh died, 27 Dec 1876, age 75, Tasmania, reg. no. 175. again no further information. There is one death in Geelong Victoria, John Cash, in 1888, age 55, but would be a bit young for yours. I have only got Tas. N.S.W. Vic. WA so could be he was in South Australia, or Queensland. Sorry I can not be of more help, best of luck in your research, Cheers, Linda. 3. Dear Linda Thank you so very much for taking the time and trouble to help us with our enquiry. You are wonderful. The John Cash who married Elizabeth Dunks we think could be ours, we will certainly follow up the sites that you have so kindly recommended. We really didn't know where to start, so your help has been invaluable. What a shame the records are destroyed, it must make family history research very difficult, as these records have certainly helped in our research in the UK. At least you have ruled out the areas where John can't be found, which is a big help. Thank you once again, we really do appreciate your efforts on our behalf, you are marvellous. Kindest regard Marilyn and Dave ----- Original Message ----- From: "Linda" <jlwellwood@primus.com.au> To: <AUS-WA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, October 24, 2005 11:24 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-WA] JOHN CASH > Dear Marilyn and Dave, > > I live in Australia, and can tell you, you will not find any census > records from here they are always destroyed by law, your idea of a will > is most likely your best bet, and you can search Victoria on > www.prov.vic.gov.au/archivesvictoria or Email them at > archivesvictoria@dvc.vic.gov.au and for New South Wales you can search > on http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyhistory/searchhistoricalrecords.htm > > I had a look at my CDs and found John CASH age 36, married Elizabeth Dunks > age 28, in Tasmania on the 28 Oct 1844, reg. no. 1453. this will be the > one you refer to, unfortunately the indexes do not give any further > information. > > And a John CASh died, 27 Dec 1876, age 75, Tasmania, reg. no. 175. again > no further information. > > There is one death in Geelong Victoria, John Cash, in 1888, age 55, but > would be a bit young for yours. > > I have only got Tas. 3. Dear Marilyn and Dave, No worries, i just hope it helps you, But if you think he might have been a convict, you could be in luck, our Convict records are very well documented, if you do a Google search with something like Australian convicts records/ arrivals etc. you will get heaps of sites. These are 2 very good ones for what you are looking for, www.rootsweb.com/`austashs/convicts/tas_con. htm that has the ship you mentioned on it. this one is our Capital City Canberra, also very good, www.n/a.gov.au/collect/genealogy/mfmopen/genealtas.htm Best of Luck.
