The society's library has an extensive range of books, maps, journals and documents relating to WA's history, as well a big collection of photographs. This is possible through the support of an increase in the annual administrative grant from the State Government through the Department for Culture and the Arts. George married Jessie Agnes HAMILTON in Kalgoorlie in 1902. Their children included George (b.1903) and Fanny Louisa May (1905). Francis served with the 11th battalion in World War I and his address on enlistment was c/- Post Office, Meekatharra. He returned to Australia on June 17, 1918. A third brother, Robert Henry (the writer's grandfather), eventually settled in SA. They were the sons of John and Sarah Louisa STEPHENSON (nee SAUNDERS). It is known that John worked on the goldfields around Boulder and Kalgoorlie.
