Hello Everyone,I am new to the list and would be grateful for any help you could give me.My mother in laws surname was FURPHY and she came from Portadown,Co Armargh,Northern Ireland.She was 'adopted' by the Furphy family in aprox 1898.She had a brother called James Furphy who went to live in Scotland,[Clydebank i think]James had a daughter Kathleen who worked in the singer sewing machine factory there.Kathleen married Bill Lewis[at least i think his name was Lewis]and they had a son William.I have a photo of the three of them taken on 21st June 1954 in Perth with William aged 5yrs.Looking at the background of the photo i would believe it to be Perth Australia and not Scotland.If anyone does recognise this family i would love to hear from them,i am putting our family history together but can get very little from Ireland.My mother in law was Mary Furphy who married Patrick Davies in Portadown,but they also went to live in Wishaw,Scotland and my husband their youngest child [out of 12]was born there Suzanne South Wales,UK
