FOREST GROVE GROUP SETTLERS : The official unveiling of the memorial to the Group 64 settlers Forest Grove will be held at the memorial site, 200m along Sebbes Road, on Thursday, March 23, at 2.30pm. FREMANTLE CHURCH PROJECT : Basilica of St Patrick, 47 Adelaide Street, Fremantle has a gap in its Memorial Book. His sisters came to Australia and married into the BRUCE, BROWN and ROBERTSON families. His nieces married McEWEN, STEWART and REID. Descendants of James KIDD who also came to Australia were (1) Thomas Anderson KIDD born Fife 1847 (married Emma NANKIVELL). Their children were Mary Elsie (m. John NANKIVELL), Thomas ANDERSON (b. Geraldton 1881) and Catherine (m. George MILLER, Coolgardie). (2) Mary Hutchison KIDD born 1848. Mary married Alexander FARMER and their son William Thomas was born in Melbourne in 1874. (3) James Alexander who was born in 1862. All James' descendants were born in Queensland. Hoping to find his granddaughter who is believed to be living in Perth (name unknown) to return a memento to his family that was left at the hostel. Contact: Care Manager, 9339 2830. NELSON SOCIETY : The NELSON Society of Australia will hold their annual general meeting at the RAAF Association, Bull Creek Drive, Bull Creek, on Monday, March 20, at 7.30pm. There will be an election of office bearers, followed by a talk about the French explorer Nicolas BAUDIN who charted much of the WA coastline and collected scientific data in the years immediately following 1801 with his two ships Le Geographe and Le Naturaliste. An Open Day will be held in the school grounds on Saturday, March 25, from 2pm to 6pm. Past, present and future students and staff are welcome. Photographs, trophies, certificates as well as written memories are sought. A heritage walk of fame is planned with engraved bricks recording students and families associated with the school. REDDEN : Photographs of sentimental value to the family of Private William REDDEN (WX1980) have come to light. Pte. REDDEN was serving in World War II with the 2/32nd Infantry Battalion when he was killed in the Middle East on August 11,1941. He is buried at Tobruk. William was born in Kurrawang, WA, son of Edward and Edith REDDEN. WILKES/HASTIE : : Thomas and Rosetta WILKES (nee RICH) are buried in unmarked graves in St Mark's churchyard, Picton, WA. Seeking information about them as well as copies of photographs. Also, their daughter Harriet (1869-1923) who is buried in Bunbury Cemetery with her husband Walter HASTIE (1869-1934).
