Horace Melbourne (Mel) GRAY WX10820 grew up at Naraling and Geraldton. He served in World War II and was shipped to the Middle East in 1941 on the US 13 Convoy. He trained with the 2/21st before joining the 2/16th and returned in 1942 on the Kosciusko via Bombay. Mel went to New Guinea and was killed at Brigade Hill on September 8,1942.
