    1. COLEBROOK(E) Help Please
    2. robyn clarke
    3. Hello List, I am trying to find this couple for a friend overseas. Siblings and orphans, ALFRED NELSON COLEBROOK(E) born 1888 Tunbridge Wells, Kent and sister LOUISA H. COLEBROOK(E) born 1890 Tunbridge Wells, Kent are last seen in an English workhouse in 1901. Their deceased parents were Charles and Sarah. Family lore states they came to Australia to live sometime after 1901. "Nelson" married a lady called Hettie in Australia and like to be called "Nelson" not Alfred. Did they enter Australia through Perth or Fremantle? Perhaps they settled and married in W.A.? Could someone please have a look for me, I have checked NSW and Victoria without success. With thanks, Robyn Central Coast NSW

    3. For those who have interests in SA, I have just uploaded a page to my website containing 893 baptisms that took place on the Murray River Mission paddle steamer Etona between 1894-1912. Covers most of the towns and landings along the river, there are a few strays from other places like Pt Augusta, Adelaide, even a couple of Victorians (none from WA though - but there are bound to be people out there with connections to the Riverland over here who will find this of interest.) http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jksgenie/etona.htm Julie Stokes Adelaide SA

    1. Passenger list look up for ARTHUR
    2. Ian Gully
    3. Hi there, Thanks Jane and Wendy for your response. Not sure what your holdings are over in WA. In Sth Aust. we can access an Indexed Passenger List which gives reference to the vessel they arrived on in SA from the UK in the 1800's and view the actual ships lists on microfische at the State Library and Sth Aust Genealogy Society. I was hoping that WA had something similar. The website 'Shipslist' doesnt currently include the years I am looking for. I am looking at shipping which came into WA from England c1870 - 1874 which had on board the following: Probably travelled together, but may have travelled individually or multiple: Henry ARTHUR b1821, 50yrs in 1871 Henry ARTHUR (Jnr) b1842, 29 in 1871 Walter ARTHUR b1851, 20 in 1871 Richard ARTHUR b1854, 17 in 1871 Thomas ARTHUR b1857, 14 in 1871 All should be recorded as Miners Richard spent 2 years in WA before moving to Moonta Mines in Sth Aust. Walter married Hannah THOMAS at Murchison in 1870. He was at the Geraldine Mines in 1872. If you are able to look up coastal shipping out of WA to SA, I have found an H and R ARTHUR who departed WA (Albany??) for Sth Aust cJan 1871 on 'Emily Smith'. Could someone verify if that would be Henry and Richard, please. Thanks for your help Ian Gully South Australia Researching Arthur and Gully

    3. Dear Ian, I have never found passenger lists from England or Scotland. I think because a) the numbers leaving were so enormous See: http://www.mernick.co.uk/thhol/eastwest2.html#blackwall and b) in the days when Australia and New Zealand were British territories it was not considered emigration. People could come and go. Occasionally I have come across the census enumerator's report saying such-and -such families have gone to start a new life and there are about 30 fewer to count. The only way to find the passengers seems to be as they arrived in the new countries. see: http://www.theshipslist.com/ If you find something to contradict me please let me know. I have tried to find evidence of my gt grandparents departure from Scotland and Ireland for years.
