Hi, Is anyone researching Catherine de Werdinski? Lawrence Bower, who married Catherine de Werdinski (sometimes spelled DewdinskI) on 18 May 1853 in Fremantle, West Australia. Catherine was the daughter of Adolphe de Werdinski, a shadowy, not to say shady, character claiming to be an Austrian Count, who also used the name David Beck and was buried here in Hull in England in 1856 . I am wondering whether anyone has anything else about Catherine - where she was born, mother's name, when she arrived in Australia, when she died etc. I would be very grateful indeed for anything at all. Thank you in advance Rod -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Version: 7.1.375 / Virus Database: 268.2.0/275 - Release Date: 6/03/2006
Hello Helen I'm at home now and have just found your original email. This is interesting because I was actually looking for Dulcie HART - maybe she wrote articles in this column? I only have family oral history to go on and I thought that Mary Ferber was Dulcie Hart - I obviously was wrong so if you had any knowledge of articles written by Dulcie Hart, I would be most appreciative. Hello Julie: Thank you for replying to the post re: BEER surname. The particular lot that took me hunting in WA didn't emigrate there until 1910 so that would eliminate your George BEER being connected to this particular family. I do however have other BEER's in my line (often an entire family) that seem to disappear from England and very likely went to Australia as I haven't found them in the USA or Canada and it seems folk usually (but not always of course) left for USA, Canada or Australia. Is it possible you have the marriage certificate for George BEER and Tryphenia CLIFFORD and perhaps it states who George's father was? I have been following the BEER's in England for many years now and have always made it a practice to research any I run across as often they don't immediately appear to fit into my line but then up the road something pops up and then find they are actually related. Just wish I knew something more on your George. Delving into BEER's in Australia is something I have not attempted before and just started to do in the past week. It is already obvious to me that even after I sort the current family I am working on I will stay researching in Australia now that I am becoming familiar with resources that are available there. I had no idea there were so many BEER's in Australia! Will keep the BEER/CLIFFORD marriage in mind in case I should run across something that might relate. Thank you for the BEER info/references you sent, it is very much appreciated!
