Hi John, The family name that I am interested in is KNOX, I don't know a huge amount them as we lost contact with them in the mid 1960's. Lena KNOX was my grandmother's sister, her maiden name was YOUNGE,they had a son named Davey who I think might have worked on the Snowy Mountains Scheme I think they immigrated at about the same time as my grandparents which would have them arriving in the 1920's. I'm sorry to be so "Vera Vague" about them, but that's about all I can remember being told. Some years ago a small plane went down in Warragamba Dam, and Davey KNOX apparently took a small boat out and rescued those on board. If this information rings a bell with anybody I would be grateful for contact. My grandmother's name was Mary YOUNGE she married John O'DEA they married in Wales in 1906. Hi Listers Searching Australia wide for children to the above couple. Hi Roger thank you for contacting me, The origin of the name Is [anglicised] MACKINLAY, however one James "The Trooper" MACKINLAY, went to Ireland as a scout with the army of William of Orange, and was victorious at the battle of the Boyne, James married and remained in Northern Ireland The Irish spelling of the name is MCKINLEY and his descendants use that spelling to-day; one of James' descendants became the first un-married President of the U.S. Do you have the Death certificate of your John Henry? from that we might be able to guestimate his birth date, Not all of the MCKINLEY'S are of Irish descent The name was often mis-spelt by shipping clerk's etc and the MacGregors used that name during their time of their name being proscribed Don't hesitate to write again, Regards Malcolm ----- Original Message ----- From: "roger size" <rdsize2003@yahoo.com.au> To: <AUS-WA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 17, 2006 7:10 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-WA] Stewart, Buchanan, McKinlay > The WA branch of my family has the following McKinley > connections. > > John Henry McKinley b.....(not WA) > m.1900 (Perth, WA) > Annie Lucy Byfield b. 1881 in WA > > Children : Alice Maud McKinley b. 1900 in WA > Norm McKinley > Pearl McKinley > Edward John Henry McKinley b. 1902 in WA > Mabel May McKinley b. 1904 in WA > > Alice Maud McKinley married into one of the WA > families of PAULL......specifically a Francis Howard > PAULL. > > I'm not sure where John Henry McKinley was born, but > it doesn't appear to be in WA. Hi Everyone: I am looking for an obituary for Harry M. LEIGHTON was was a member of "The IWW" and Peace Activest in the 1915-1920 time frame and possibly throughout his life. Harry died July 8 1957 in Shelton Park, a suburb of Perth I have been told. He was 79 years of age. He is buried at Karrakatta Cemetery. I am hoping by finding his obituary it MAY indicate where he was born and who his family was. I am hoping he may turn out to be the brother of my great grandfather who had immigrated from England before 1901 to Australia. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide. The names I am after are Oswald Hunter BENNETT who married Jessie Emily Ellis in 1905. Also Joseph Herbert BENNETT, I am not sure if he married or not. Oswald, Joseph and five siblings were born in Victoria to Joseph Samuel BENNETT and Rosina HUNTER who married in 1871. Joseph was originally from Derbyshire, England. I would love to know if anyone else is researching this family. Thank you in advance. Regards Judy Douthie

I can get approximate one from their deaths or burials but that is as far as I can get. Hope for some help Sheelagh Wiles Whyalla Stuart, SA. swiles@ozemail.com.au http://www.tribalpages.com/tribes/hunter2000

For this marriage: William Partrid WALKER married Fanny Frances STEVENS in 1898 at Victoria Park, WA Reg No; 1382 William's 2nd name should read Partridge......... Cheers Wendy
Hi Sheelagh, Found the cremation record of Henry Alleson WALKER in Karrakatta Cemetery, he died aged 86 years 10/10/1986, so this means he was born in 1900, so therefore his daughter Ann could not have been born in about 1900. Henry Alleson WALKER born Perth 1900 to William Partrid WALKER and Fanny Frances STEVENS Reg No: 3688. William Partrid WALKER married Fanny Frances STEVENS in 1898 at Victoria Park, WA Reg No; 1382 Henry A WALKER married Grace F GREEN in Perth in 1930.....Reg No: 1564 Also found a Grace Florence WALKER who died aged 88 years on 17/10/1994, which makes her born in 1906, so this is Henry Alleson's wife. Both cremated and ashes taken by the administrator, so no burial plot. Therefore the Ann you are chasing must have been born after 1930, and her marriage in about the 1950's or so. Cheers Wendy
Hi Sheelagh, Do you have the following information: Ann's place of birth? Henry Alleson Walker and Grace Green's marriage date and place? Death places of any of the above?
