I have hit a VERY big brick wall, trying to find a family called Cross, I have been told Thomas Cross born 17?? a wire worker, had a son Richard Barrit Cross born in Bristol Gloucestershire 1808 c an ironmonger who married Elizabeth Rich 1832. I have been told he had a sister called Frances, who ran away with a footman to the U.S.A. I am looking for any other siblings & who did Thomas marry. I have a lot of info if we have the same family. laurelnoel@foxall.com.au
Dear List, hoping to find any info on the following family - Ruth Dellar b.1857 Richmond, Victoria m. James McLean b.Scotland in Victoria in 1886. Two daughters, Janet Agnes b.1889 & Ethel b.1891 were born in Victoria. The next I can find is the birth of twins Alice & Lily in 1892 in Perth. A James McLean d. 1904 in Perth, aged about the right age to have been Ruth's husband. I can find no remarriage for Ruth in the reverse marriage index and none of them appear to have returned to Victoria. Any info at all would be great. Regards Lyn
That sounds like jannice, don't expect too much. As long as she doesn't do it again. ----- Original Message ----- From: <AUS-WA-D-request@rootsweb.com> To: <AUS-WA-D@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 02, 2006 10:00 AM Subject: AUS-WA-D Digest V06 #71

Brian was a bit of a character and although he used the term "Sir" he was not really a Knight of the Realm! He died in Perth about a week ago, but his body was not discovered for a few days. I have been informed that his funeral may not be held until May 8th! Brian was born in England in 1943 and had been in Western Australia for over 20 years. He was divorced (his ex-wife apparently lives in Queensland) and he reputedly has 2 daughters (names not known) in Perth. He was an uncle to my son-in-law. I would be extremely gratefull to receive any newspaper articles, death notices, funeral notices, or other information than anyone can find on Brian, his life, or family. Cheers gm

Hi John, The family name that I am interested in is KNOX, I don't know a huge amount them as we lost contact with them in the mid 1960's. Lena KNOX was my grandmother's sister, her maiden name was YOUNGE,they had a son named Davey who I think might have worked on the Snowy Mountains Scheme I think they immigrated at about the same time as my grandparents which would have them arriving in the 1920's. I'm sorry to be so "Vera Vague" about them, but that's about all I can remember being told. Some years ago a small plane went down in Warragamba Dam, and Davey KNOX apparently took a small boat out and rescued those on board. If this information rings a bell with anybody I would be grateful for contact. My grandmother's name was Mary YOUNGE she married John O'DEA they married in Wales in 1906. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I am trying to locate a Jim WILLIAMS who was "adopted" by a distant relative, Charles PAULL and his wife, Sarah Frances (Fanny) SMALES. Jim is allegedly the son of Charles PAULL and Elsie WILLIAMS, who was working on his farm. Jim was born during WW2 and when Elsie's husband returned from the war he took Elsie & their other children back....but not Jim, who he knew was not his child. Jim inherited Charles PAULL's farm called "Whitehouse" at Pinjarra when Charles died in 1966. I have searched the white pages for Jim and have sent a letter to J.Williams in Pinjarra, but it was not Jim. Does anyone have any hints as to where I should start searching for him? He would be about 65 years old now. Should I try the Pinjarra council? How can I access the WA electoral roll? Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
