Greetings from Surrey, UK. I am trying to find out about the above and his Australian relatives or descendents - IAN CUNNINGHAM was born in 1908 or 1909 in England and went to Australia in the late 1920s. He served in the Australian Army during WW2, spending the majority of the time as a PoW, having been captured in Greece in 1941. He spent a short time back in England after the War where he married HILDA FRIEND at Reigate, Surrey in 1945 before returning to Western Australia. His son, PETER IAN, was born in Kalgoorlie in 1947 but left for the UK with his mother a few years later. Ian remained in Western Australia and remarried twice, firstly to Mary Carmel Tate, nee Dawson, on 8 April 1963 in Perth and then to Kathleen Penglase, nee Bowdidge, on 11 July 1969 in Narrogin. Ian died aged 88 at the Pingelly District Hospital on 14 April 1998. His death certificate shows him to have had two children - the aforementioned Peter Ian and KEIRAN then aged 36. Annette Thank you for your email. I have searched the website and did not find anything, but I found the section where you can send a query, which I did.........I'll await their answer. Thanks! Lynne Bennett Washington State, USA
Does anyone have any information on how one can access the paperwork that the Australian "War Brides" completed prior to leaving Fremantle in early 1946 on US transport ships? Are files for these brides of American servicemen available for research? I was thinking that the passport application paperwork would contain a lot of valuable genealogical information and would be interesting reading for the descendants of these women. Thank you for your help. Lynne Bennett Washington State, USA
Sorry Wendy I should have put in that detail. Francis Lewis Berryman was born in Perth 11 April 1916. I am very interested in finding who his parents were. I know they may have been cousins and left Vic because the family may not have accepted what was going on. Hi Leanne, Unfortunately, birth registrations for WA cease at 1905. Perhaps a request for a lookup for birth notice in the West Australian Newspaper may help. Also do you know where he lived in WA, and his death date? This may help also. The WA Pioneer Index (should you discover who his parents are) is online at: http://www.justice.wa.gov.au/portal/server.pt Click on Family History...........then click on Western Australian Pioneer Index 1841 - 1905 (in the left hand column) Cheers Wendy Leanne Baulch wrote: > Sorry Wendy I should have put in that detail. > > Francis Lewis Berryman was born in Perth 11 April 1916. > > I am very interested in finding who his parents were. Hello folks, I have no idea whether public death indexes are available up to the period around 1908, but if there are, and anyone has access to them, I would appreciate a lookup for a death of an Elizabeth/Betsy/Lizzie CLARK(E) who would have been aged about 80. I don't know what state the woman died in, but I'm having trouble identifying her in Tassie, Victoria, and NSW, and wonder if she could have fetched up and pegged out in WA. She did have a son living in Bridgetown, WA at the time, and perhaps she was there with or near him. With thanks, Lenore Frost Essendon, Vic
I would like to locate descendants of Eric HARRISON d. 18 Sept 1983 and his wife Edith Maude HARRISON (nee CLIFFE) who died 25 October 1973 they both appear in cremation records for Karrakatta which state Millendon as their address . Eric would be my father's second cousin. A search for a newspaper death notice would be appreciated -- perhaps it might give family names ? -- Elwyn Goldsbury Elwyng@ihug.co.nz 26 Kandy Cres Ngaio Wellington 6004 New Zealand phone 064-4-4796148
