Fellow Listers I am seeking information about Stephen MILLARD, a convict who arrived in Fremantle in 1852 from Somerset, aged about 48. I have information that he was in Gerldton until about 1885, and that he worked as a shoemaker after gaining his Ticket of Leave. Can anyone shed any light on what happened to him? I can't access the Geraldton Pioneers' Index but suspect he must be mentioned there. He may also be in the Geraldton cemetery, but the online version is not working at present. I hope someone can help me. With kind regards Philip Candy London

Dear listers., In a (seemingly) never-ending search for ancestors or - for goodness sake - relatives, I am constantly trying to contact anyone with interests in the above surnames from the WA area... and even VIC and NT, but mainly WA. My ancestors arrived early in the 19th century from mainly England and Scotland as convicts. I have a couple only f known cousins in Qld and a large family-tree data base and would delight in anyone contacting me who may have a connection. As a starter the names that are prominent at this stage are... James Patrick MAIN., James McNab MAIN., Daniel David MAIN., John MAIN., Robert James Newman., Sarah Elizabeth NEWMAN., Theodore PIKE., Matilda PIKE., Sarah BUCKLEY., Mary HITCHEN etc etc. All of these fine folks managed to have families of biblical proportions and therefore it could be assumed there are consequently many descendants. I have heaps to share and to date am basically alone in my little (Australian) genealogical world. Regards Dave Northland, New Zealand
Hi List, I am hoping to find this family who migrated to Australia in 1951. James and Jeanie RAFFERTY (nee?) arrived per NEW AUSTRALIA in 1951. Children were 2 boys and a girl, Margaret b. 1948. Hoping that there will be other RAFFERTY researchers on the list. Thank you, Christine

Hi Douglas, This may not be much help, but found, Henery Ronald Nei DOUGLAS, died in Melb. 1961, age 44. Father. Harry Archib DOUGLAS, Mother, Emily Ellen MARTIN, reg. no. 7804. The Nei is most likely Neil, and the Ronald could be a typo and meant to be Robert, the age is about right. Hello List, I'm trying to locate descendants of a relative who moved to WA. Here is what I know. Henry Robert Neil DOUGLAS, born 1916 state unknown, married Emily PICKERING in Perth, Western Australia, date unknown. They had one known child, a son Ian Stuart DOUGLAS, date of birth unknown. Family rumour says that Henry Robert Neil later moved to Melbourne, Victoria, and remarried. There is also a rumour that Ian Stuart died in Western Australia. So I am looking for evidence for the death of an Ian Stuart DOUGLAS in Western Australia some time, probably after the 1950s. Are there any cemetery indexes that can be searched? And I wuold be interste in any related newspaper death notices that might mention next of kin. Any advice on this would be welcome. I'm also very happy to do reciprocal research in Tasmanian records in return. Hello all, I'm looking for any info on descendants of John Henry Beard (b1876) & Ellen Margaret Moore, and also Robert Edmond Beard (b1882) & Emma Rachel Scott. Both John & Robert were born in Victoria, they moved over to Perth, Western Australia and had sheep properties. One of them had a steam ticket and worked on the boiler in a hospital. They are my grandmothers uncles & aunts, as she was only young when she lived in WA she doesn't know of most of her WA cousins. Anyone connected to these Beard's? Thankyou Wendy & John for your suggestions. It was the link from my favourites list. When I typed the address directly into search it worked OK. Thanks again for solving my problem Regards, Lyn in Melbourne
