    3. Hi Gail Yes, that would be great, thanks. I've found out who the girls in the photo are from someone pointing me to Trove. I had looked there over the years but I guess it was still being digitized and over the years I'd forgotten about it until today. Below is the heading of the newspaper the item was in Swan Express (Midland Junction, WA : 1900 - 1954), Friday 23 June 1922 CHURCH OF ENGLAND ANNUAL CHILDREN'S CARNIVAL Workbags (Miss Day) Rosa Aitken, Pearl Cozens, Violet Townsend Cissy Major, Helen Hird, Eva Catherall, (I think this is the girl who sent it..EC) Betty Wilson & Kathleen Day Cheers Marcelle

    3. Thank you so much Barbara; I think you hit the nail right on the head! I kept looking for dance studios/classes etc., never contemplating a carnival or contest. Now all I have to do is to try to locate one or more of the 'girls' or their children as it's a lovely photo and would be nice to have of their particular relative who'd be long gone at this point. Cheers & thanks again, Marcelle

    3. Hi List I have a studio post card photo taken, I'm guessing, in the 1920s. There are 8 young girls in the photo dressed in what look like home-made dresses with straps over the shoulders and t-shirt like tops underneath. All the girls are wearing long socks and dancing pumps with laces criss-crossed up the legs. It's addressed to Mrs Bain, my great grandmother and is signed .. The Workbag Set. My great grandmother lived in Midland and the Fremantle areas over the years. The mystery has been driving me mad for years. I hope someone can help and I can send a scan if anyone is interested. On one site it said that he is AKA Golddsmith , and he was a Shoemaker. It might be worthwhile sending a email to the State Records Office of Western Australia for information. All I have to date is :- Richard George GOLDSMITH, son of Edward GOLDSMITH (1784-1848) and Mary JARMAN (1796-1886), was born in 1832 in Ramsgate, Kent, England. He was christened on 1 April 1832 in the Church of St George the Martyr, Church Hill, Ramsgate, Kent, England. In the 1841 census Richard lives with his parents, Edward and Mary together with six of his siblings at Little Addington, in Ramsgate On the 24th Dec 1844 Richard is noted before the Sandwich Borough Assize Court in Kent, UK charged with larceny and is sentenced to 3 months imprisonment with a whipping before he is released. He had in fact stolen a candlestick value then at 2shillings. On 30th March 1848 Richard was convicted again at the Sandwich Borough Assize Court to 7 years transportation for felony, having been tried originally for larceny. In the Australian Criminal records Richard is noted as being transported from Parkhurst Prison, Isle of Wight to Western Australia on the "Minden" arriving in 1848. On the voyage his conduct is described as "indifferent at first then good". He is described as being 5ft 4½", with light brown hair, blue eyes, oval face shape, fair complexion, of slender build, in good health with no distinguishing marks. On the20th January 1854 Richard was released from "penal servitude" having completed his sentence. I am hoping that someone can help further my research or at least point me in the right direction Many thanks Roger M EVANS Bridgnorth UK _______________________________________________ Q: Why do WA's cyber-genies hang out at the Perth DPS & use DPS-CHAT-L ?
