My great great grandfather, Joseph MILLARD, Convict 1363, travelled from Western Australia to the Eastern States between 1859 and 1865. He was given a Conditional Pardon in WA on the 5th November 1859 and was married in Queensland on the 26th June 1865. I have not been able to find the name of the Ship or the date on which he left Western Australia. I would appreciate it if you would email me with any information that would help me find the missing shipping details. Thank you. Are you aware that Fremantle Prison is awarding a certificate of recognition to descendants (if eligible) of convicts, guards and warders of Fremantle Prison? Joe Crane [email protected]
Hello Christy You need to contact the Western Australian Register General's office to obtain a death certificate. Some of the details your after will be on the death certificate such as parents names. Siblings are usually listed on a birth certificate. Where the registration number etc is known for certificates older than 60 years a discount of $10 dollars apply. Many Wa researchers have copies of the WA BDM's CD which goes from 1841 to 1905. Indexes for Births up to 1905, Marriages up to 1930 and deaths up to 1980 are available on fiche at the WA state library. Some people have access to these fiche might be able to help you with a registration mumber. Looking for anyone with links to or researching the name GRACO in WA. Alfred George GRACO b. 1887 London, enlisted for WW2 garrison duty at Swanbourne, WA Henry Mathias GRECO b. 1917 England, enlisted in the RAN at Freemantle, WA in 1939 and went down with HMAS Sydney in the Indian Ocean in 1941 I am researching a GRACO family from London and am interested to see if these individuals fit into the family group. Greetings, In last week's "Can You Help" column there was a most interesting enquiry from John Sclater of Safety Bay regarding information on Cast Iron Headstones .... I'd also be most interested to learn about the background to this fascinating topic - can anyone enlighten please or suggest where to find more information? Cheers, Jan McElroy, Currarong, NSW
Daryl--Some years ago there was a family of Graco's living in Mundaring West Aust. The father I think was Alf but called" Snow". He had a son Harry who moved to a small town towards Merredin. Snow would have been WW2 age. Hi All, I have just subscribed to this list as I have learnt that Martha THOMAS (nee LAMB) died on 5 November 1919 in PERTH. She was born in Calais and immigrated to Australia at the age of 4 with her parents. They were among the lacemakers of Calais who came as a group to Australia in the late 1840's. She married Thomas THOMAS (born in Wales ~1828) in Victoria. They had about 13 children in Victoria but I have found very few death records in Victoria. Thomas THOMAS died in Stawell in 1890. Now that I know that Martha died in Perth I was wondering how many of their children ended up there too. In particular I believe that their son David THOMAS (b. 1871 at pleasant Creek, Victoria) may have in turn had a son David THOMAS (b. 9 December 1922) who ended up in Western Australia. I am descended from another of Thomas and Martha's children. Any help much appreciated. Michaela Morgan Hobart, Tasmania, Australia
