Hello Robert, Thank you very much for this. In fact Michael (c1831-1892) and Margaret (c1835 -1883) had 11 children in total in Victoria and all were alive at the time of Michael's death. The two I have absolutely no further trace of were Amy and Reginald. I've also not been able to find a death for Martin, the youngest son and am now trying other states in the hope of finding them - so far no trace in SA or NSW, now it seems not in WA either. Hi Leslie-Ann, You can check the two main cemeteries - Karrakatta and Fremantle at the following URL's: http://www.mcb.wa.gov.au/Search/default.htm http://www.fcb.wa.gov.au/two/c_record.html Birth records after 1905 have not yet been released in Western Australia. Marriage records are on microfiche at some major libraries and Genealogical Societies up to the 1960's, and deaths up to the 1980's. Can't remember exact dates for those. The microfiche marriage indexes are not cross referenced, so if you dont know the name of the partner, it can take quite a long time to match the registration number to the partner. There is no recorded death of James in WA and it is thought he could possibly be one and the same as the writer's grandfather, James Richard DAY, who arrived in NSW in 1876 recorded as spending the first 20 years in WA. James R. DAY established himself in Tenterfield, NSW, where he became a successful carpenter, builder, and funeral director. He is also believed to have been involved with professional boxing and associated with world champion boxer Jem Mace. James died in Tenterfield on June 23, 1922. FRASER : Information is sought for family history about John FRASER, born in South Australia about 1886-87 to George and Elizabeth FRASER. He worked in WA as a brewer's assistant in Kalgoorlie and Ora Banda before joining the army in Kalgoorlie on April 27, 1916. He served in the 51st Battalion but was killed in action in France on April 25, 1918. LAUNDER : In 1846, a Dr LAUNDER entered Nornalup Inlet, boated up the lower reaches of Deep River and built a hut. He had the intention of breeding horses for the Indian army. He had the misfortune to fatally wound an Aboriginal who was caught pilfering stores from his hut and the police advised him to leave the area in case of retribution. Michael DODD arrived in Australia as a convict on the Stag in 1855 married Elizabeth SMITH in 1865. Smith came to Australia with Pensioner Guard father William SMITH. HelloList, Am wondering if there is anyone on the list who is a relative to or knows of the Skepper family. Apparently William Gresham Skepper came to Kalgoorlie from Bendigo, then to Perth at some stage where he had a couple of children. Have come across several Skeppers at the Karrakatta and Fremantle cemetry sites. Would dearly love to hear from anyone who thinks they may be able to help. My great great grandmother was Sarah Skepper, she was 1 of 15 children. Two of her brothers also came to Australia.
