    3. Hello everyone, I have a photo of a lady, Amelia MURPHY (REID) who I thought was my grandfather's sister. I have made contact with a new relly and she has the original photo of this lady. On the bottom of her photo it has the words "60 Oldham Street Manchester. Browny & Son." I have checked the street directory for Manchester and there is an Oldham street there. Now I am wondering if there was any branch of this photography business in Warrnambool or Ballarat as these are the places Amelia lived. Amelia was born on the 23.3.1873 and died in Warrnambool 27.1.1915 aged 42 and I do know that she never visited England. I really couldn't say how old she was in the photo but I would put it roughly after 1893. Any help as always appreciated Cheers Sally Flynn

    3. Hello Sally, Photographers were very commercial people. The name and address was there to encourage new customers, or for re-ordering of the image. IF it was an Australian sourced photo it would have the Australian name and address and in very small print "also of Manchester, England". Maybe the photo is of a relative in Manchester and not the lady you think ... or maybe she did go to England (most went near the end of the boom in 1888 and returned a few months later) and you don't have all her particulars. But an Australian photographer ? I doubt it.
