March 7, 1919 A private cable message announces the death in Paris of Madame BUCHARD, wife of Admiral Henry BUCHARD, who a few years ago commanded the French Squadron in the Pacific. Deceased was a Victorian, the only daughter of Mrs Hector WILSON (formally of "Vectis" Station, and now resident in Paris), who is a sister of Mr Pierre BELLEW, of Melbourne. Private Jack WHITTINGHAM arrived at Edenhope Friday night, 21st Feb., and although it was after midnight when he reached his home (having come home from Goroke after the arrival of the train) a large crowd assembled and gave him a right royal reception. Private WHITTINGHAM has nearly four years service to his credit, and although he looks well, his left arm has been very severely injured. The Soldier's Welcome Home committee will tender Private WHITTINGHAM a social a little later on. Several other Edenhope men are expected within the next few weeks.
