Yes Richard They were our neighbours and among my Mum and Dad's best friends. Norma and Neville, the 2 youngest, were our age and we played together all the time. I often wonder what became of them. I could show you the exact spot where Rup was killed. It was a notorious corner at Noorat, just out of Terang. That was an absolute tragedy. Could also show you the house in Mortlake where they lived. And I noticed last time I put flowers on Mum and Dad's grave that someone has been back and put a headstone on the grave after all these years. One of the daughters, Thelma (?) lived in the house in the Tower Hill Cemetery for some years. But they left the town when we were still young and we never heard any more. There was a big family. You know, this is really weird, because I was only thinking about Norma and Neville in the last few days. They had an aunt in Melbourne who used to send them things, and often Mum would give Mrs Hutchings money and ask if the aunt could get one for us too. The memory that stands out was the first edition of "Snugglepot and Cuddlepie" by Mae Gibbs, which she sent us, and which I still have. And lots of other mischief stuff like stealing Dad's cigarette papers and smoking the horsehair from the old sofa that someone had dumped in the paddock. It's a wonder that didn't kill us isn't it? I didn't know the mother's name, as our mothers always called each other 'Mrs' in those days, but she was one of those lovely soft, cuddly mothers. Now what is your connection with the family?
