    3. Hello Malcolm and others My Harvey family went from UK (Cornwall) on the Clara and disembarked at Belfast (Port Fairy) in Dec 1854. This seemed to be a regular place for disembarking along with Portland at that time. I was in Port Fairy at the weekend and would recommend the local Historical Society if you need to research early residents of the area. The fee is $25 and the researchers have the local knowledge, experience and original resources. The local cemetery is in good condition and I was able to easily get photographs of the gravestone for my great grandparents and great uncle. Apart from that there are still original buildings that give one a taste of earlier times and it is a great place to spend a few days delving in the past and walking the tracks and paths perhaps used by our ancestors. To top it off there is plenty of great accommodation and numerous upmarket eating places to make it a memorable time. Cheers Beth in Melbourne
