    3. Dear Friends, I was going through some papers today and came across letters which were sent to my grandfather from the 3 Italian POWs he had working on his farm at Pomborneit, Victoria from 1943 - 1945. These letters were written in 1946 from the POW camp at Murchison, Vic., and I was wondering whether anyone knew if there are records in existence which would tell, whether these prisoners eventually went back to Italy or stayed on here in Victoria. I would love to contact their descendants as I have some artifacts they made, and their names have been remembered with great fondness within the McGARVIE family ever since WW2. Thanks David in Ballarat

    3. Hi David, A quick check of the National Archives database just searching on POW Murchison showed quite a few entries - a lot where POWs requested permission to arrange Power of Attorney for wife or relative in their home country. So it would be worth just searching for the names you have to see if there are any records. http://www.naa.gov.au/The_Collection/recordsearch.html Regards .......
